Too good to be true?

So I'm looking at buying the following car or actually a number of vehicles of interest are on the following website but specifically the 2018 Impreza is what I'm most interested in

https://aussiecarsale.com/autos/2018-subaru-impreza-2-0i-pre…
2018 Subaru Impreza for under 15k sounds too good to be true right?

So I made enquiries on the website and got the following email response saying basically

*Vehicles sold via our website only and no showroom
*We will deliver the vehicle in 48 hours and you'll get a full refund if you don't like the vehicle
*If you like what you see please follow the prompts on the website or reply back with your name and number to complete said transaction.

Does this sound too good to be true? I think it has scam written all over it

Thoughts?

I have no experience with buying second ha d cars but all the stories here on Oz bargain have taught me…. Don't buy a 5k let alone 15k car without inspection!!!! I wouldn't trust them just on their word they will refund.

    • Looks like answers in the Whirlpool thread

  • Probably doesn’t include stamp duty and all that.

You can see the hail damage right?

    • I can’t see it where is it

        Zoom in on the bonnet.

        • Nice I didn’t see it, totally mad

    Hail damage write-off

    Easy PDR

  • check the VIN number.

with the hail damage it could be a write off

    Warning signs galore:
    Undisclosed hail damage.
    Price too low, round figure.
Qld rego plates for a NSw business address (other vehicles with hidden or missing plates)
    No mention of rego
Vehicle description is just a list of features.
    Business offering escrow
Offering shipping 48hrs across Australia - it takes a lot longer to get from Melbourne to cairns for example.
    Online only.
Phone number format isn’t 2-4-4 at top of website
Just a shipping company - but trying to look like a vehicle sales company.
Photos of vehicle in street, not at a warehouse - not a consistent location.
    Offering ‘worldwide shipping’
FAQ indicating that you aren’t allowed to pack other items in the vehicle - what a weird thing to be frequently asked for a vehicle sale.

And that’s without doing any company or website research.

I love these scam threads especially when our Ozb scam buster's respond. At least OP asked the question. Some on here actually go onto buying stuff from these sites. With Google Search and Google street maps there is no excuse. Good one @Euphemistic

      • I’m not entirely sure its a scam, but certainly seems like a business model set to take advantage of gullible people.

Been trying to find a recent thread on a similar topic. No luck so far.

        • The 2000 TT never had the double 7 bar wheels as original and they only claim the Remus exhaust being non original. I also know for a fact that the TTs have Tarkett airbags with no similar replacements. These cars should be crushed. Death trap. They are being bought back by the manufacturer.

Maybe model to sell for specialist repairers or dealers. These guys just get a cut if they sell it for them. I thought for a minute the red mustang in the background of the yellow buggy pics was the red one on sale.

Repairers buying wrecks and fixing them. In the Google map address there is also a repairer's on the other side. Could just be a coincidence.

Update. Just read the Whirlpool link above. Scam. But we knew that.

          • @Melb69:

            yellow buggy pics

Link to buggy? The only yellow things I can see are a torana and camaro

            • @mapax: OK might have gone on a tangent, but you never know with these things.. The red SSV ute on the Aus car site has Kollector plates on them. When you go to that legit website it has a yellow buggy. About 10 pics in there is a red mustang in background. Just maybe a coincidence that the Auscarsales has a red mustang as well. The one in Kollector doesnt have chrome window trim.

@Melb69: Thanks, I just wanted to see the buggy.

              • @Melb69: Different wheels, and the Mustang on the OP website has cream stripes over the roof. I don't think they're the same car. I also don't think OP website is legit, so there's that….

  • you'll get a full refund if you don't like the vehicle…. Yea righto…

    • What company in their right mind would shop a car around Aus then give you your money back if you don’t like it. It costs a couple of hundred to ship it within the same city.

  • Looks good. I'll offer him $100 over asking, thanks for finding this deal!

    Perfect car for me.

I'm currently working on an oil rig and looking to buy this exact model for my son. Happy to offer 16k!

  • Ah yes, a .com (not au) site with a grammatical error in the URL itself ("Aussie Car Sale")

Also it's $10k now. Walk the eff away.

  • I don't know my cars amazingly and I am more than happy to be corrected by anyone but isn't that the 2017 model?
I looked up the plates & VIN provided and it says "2017 SUBARU IMPREZA SEDAN"

  • Wonder how long it takes to ship from Boston

    • Interesting. Car with qld plates in the USA
