Great gaming headphones, much better than their new stuff GSP600/670.
Downside is that replacement cables are expensive :(

Price drop is due to the release of the PC 38X and the HD 560S.

Not much of a headphone to write home about to be honest, though it looks good against other gaming headsets. Take a look at the AKG K371 for what's available at this price point.

The HD560S is a studio monitor that has no effect the price of Sennheiser’s dedicated gaming headsets. The PC38x has been around for ages too. It’s not the reason for you the price drop.

You're thinking of the PC37X, because the PC38X was announced two weeks ago. There's a refresh going on in this product class.

Regardless, at this price point, look at the AKG K371 during Prime Day.

It’s a refresh of the 37x, there’s no new components that haven’t been used in other headphones before. And again, what does a studio monitor have to do with gaming headsets? You do realise these have regularly been discounted over the years, and this isn’t a manufacturer price reduction?

          • @aja12: Game One and the PC 37X are basically the same headphone, which in turn has plenty in common with the PC 37D. The PC38X takes on similar tweaks to the HD 560S, but obviously with a lower quality driver. Microphone capsule seems to be updated as well.

The AKG K371 offers better audio quality with great timbre and tonality. Better to step up to that and find a different microphone solution than pedal these headsets. HD 560S would be another step up, as would again be the HD6XX.

Each offers different technicalities and soundstaging though.

Love my game one! Awesome mic. Thinking about buying a back up set at this price

  • Can someone explain the difference between the Game One and Game Zero? Which is better? Thinking this would be a good Christmas present for hubby who said he needed a new gaming headset.

    Game One is Open
    Game Zero is Closed

    Game one sounds better.
Read this to understand the differance

      Thanks, purchased game one.

Sounds better is subjective, some people prefer the Zero, some people prefer the One.

Everyone has personal preferences - sometimes reviews don't serve certain products justice (especially within the audiophile community).

Some good questions that can rule out which option to choose might be:
*Does he like/need to hear external noises while gaming?
If so, One's are the better option

*Does his ears get very hot when playing?
If so, One's are the better option

*Does he like the rumble of bass?
If so, Zero's should be the better option (closed-back headsets retain more bass)

Other factors, like sound quality or music functionality, will be based on personal preference - Sennheiser is a very well respected brand, and I'm sure that there won't be too much variance in this regard between the headphones.

Note: I understand that you've picked up the One's - congrats! This comment may be useful for future OzBargainers wondering the same question :)

      • some people prefer the Zero, alot of people prefer the One.

        Fixed that for you.

        • Rude people negging when this is in fact the truth.

Open is usually wider sound stage, less bass and doesn't heat up as much as well. Closed is a more narrow sound stage, more bass and heats up quicker albeit depends on how hot your head runs.

Then take into account with closed you won't hear anything around you(so if you have kids that need attending to, go open, if you want to not hear their bs, get closed lol) and no sound leakage to the outside, opposite for open.

I think open is vastly superior but in a loud environment it would literally do your head in and I'd do closed.
