Which Flat Panel Monitor Should I Get from Officeworks?

Hi OzB-ers,

I've been gifted about $100 dollars worth of Coles Group gift cards and looking to get a computer monitor from Officerworks with it.

My preferences:

  • Total I'll spend (including gift vouchers): $250
  • Would prefer a bigger screen
  • Things I would use it for: mainly working form home. I might watch some Youtube on it too.

Their range: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/c/technology…

What would you recommend that I get?

TIA

  • How close will you generally be sitting or standing to the screen? If fairly close a 24" FHD would probably be fine, otherwise if sitting further away, a 27" might be more ideal. It's just at this price point you'll struggle to find a 27" with QHD resolution (which is ideal at this screen size, imo).

    From Officeworks:

    Samsung 27" FHD Monitor Black F350 — $228.00
    Acer 27" Nitro Gaming Monitor Black QG271 — $247.00

    • I'd be sitting about 60cm away from he screen.

  • As the above poster has mentioned, on a desktop 24" at 1080p is about the limit. For a 27" you'd want to have a 1440p at least (seems to be not available at OW).

Also keep in mind if you need the monitor stand to tilt, turn or rotate, as many of the budget options don't have those features.

Lastly for work and videos, I'd say an IPS panel would be optimal for image quality (most screens at OW seem to be IPS anyway) - that is, don't get a TN or a VA panel.

    • Great, thanks for the advice. :)

  • I'm using an Acer ED322. 31.5" curved screen on my Ryzentosh. I stand about 60cm away. It was from HN, $349 plus product care. Not sure if Officeworks sell them.

  • Given those suggestions above, ask if you can buy the showcase model, should give you a good % off

  • +1

spend gift card at coles on grocery buy monitor from computer shop

    • Any suggestions of decent computer shop in Sydney? Preferably in the western suburbs

      • Hol up - if it's now an option to buy from somewhere other than Officeworks, you should consider something like this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/569965

This hits the sweet spot of 27" QHD (2560x1440). And the price is excellent! It's an IPS panel too which is generally the best.

        • Damn, this has expired but was a sweet deal!!

  • What western suburbs? Parramatta western suburbs or Penrith western suburbs?

If it helps, I got my monitor from Umart in West Ryde via Click and Collect

    • Thanks, I would be willing to travel there
