Unicyclists and where to buy unicycles in Victoria (Online)

I need advise. Since the start of the lockdown I've been learning how to ride a unicycle. I'm up to the point where I can reasonably do a free mount and ride for a few hundred metres. However the unicycle has seen better days and the wheels are very worn down. I think it's time to retire the old Aldi unicycle and ready to upgrade.

I've been looking online but am unsure of a good unicycle store in Victoria to buy from. I checked ebay and amazon but do not trust the quality of the unicycles they sell.

Also if anyone knows any good unicycle communities in Victoria - I'd like to be a member!

Any advise would be great!!

Victorians, please take sin069's example and do something productive with your lockdown time

I'm really too old to be acting like a clown! :p

  • Can you call performing arts colleges or circuses? They may have contacts they recommend or excess equipment they want to sell (they're getting hit hard by covid-related shutdowns).

  • Juggleart has sold them for years….

    Buy a new tyre?

    • This. The wheels are worn down? Just go to a bicycle shop and get a new tyre

      • It’s also a bit hard to wear the wheels down when there is only one.

  • I bought this 24" club https://www.municycle.com.au/catalogue/UNI-CLUB-24ORA_item.h… after learning basics on an Aldi 20".
I'm using the old aldi seat/seat post on the new uni until I get better.

    • How long was the delivery if I may ask?

Also - do you find the bigger size of the wheel allowed you to cycle further and easier?

      Thanks!

Delivery was super fast, like 2 days!
Can def go much faster. Feels much nicer than the Aldi. Harder to mount, still working on that. I haven't gone far yet, but plan is for around the neighborhood. And possibly grabbing a coffee.
There's a nice global unicycle Facebook group called unicycle chat, check it out.

        • Def recommended the site, it's the Australia retailer of unicycle.com, they're pretty well known.

          • @dcuksuop: Thank you so much for the advise! I'll definitely buy the 24" from them. Aiming to be able to ride around the neighbourhood soon!

            • @sin069: If you serious about doing distance on paved roads, the experts in the group recommends even bigger wheels, 26/29/36.
I'm happy with my 24, don't think I'll ever do that much distance.

              • @dcuksuop: Also shorter cranks help with distance and higher cadence too, or so I've heard.

          • @dcuksuop: I bought a 24" unicycle off them in 2006ish and picked up direct from their Moorabbin warehouse. Service was good then.
