HP Envy x360 15.6-inch R7-4700U/16GB/512GB SSD 2 in 1 Device

So I've been look at this laptop

https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hp-envy-x360-15-6-inch-r7-47…

And was wondering if there is any cheaper one anywhere else.

I looked on Amazon us and though I got a good deal for about 1.5k AUD. But realised that American laptops firstly:

-arent covered under Aus warranty
- use an American power plug

So that path is gone :(

  • If it saves you $700, take the risk of no warranty.

You can just get a $2 US to AU plug adapter or for a cleaner look, just a AU figure 8 cable (assuming that's what it uses).

Edit. HP have a Global Warranty.

It doesn't actually. It says that warranty is provided if the product is marketed at the country.

See that's a cheeky little thing. From what I've read from other people the laptop can have the same specs but different model number and won't count

Eg the HP envy x360 ay0096na and the ay0096au have the same spec but different model number and hence the na version is not marketed in Australia and hence does not qualify for warranty. It only works if you buy a us profit and you are in Canada let's say

  • Have you considered other ultrabooks that are similar to the Envy X360? The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 or the Asus Zenbook Flip 14 are also good options with similar specs and they are cheaper than the HP.

    • I am worried on build quality and material.

The zenbook is good but the lack of 3.5mm jack is an inexcusable flaw

I just bought a newer zenbook UX434FLC and I just checked ti find that it has a headphone/mic jack. It wasn't something that was on my list to check for.

        • What processor does that run?

          • @Specificagent1: There's a choice of i5 or i7.
            I got the i7 10510U - 16GB RAM and 1TBSSD. MX250 2GB graphics too.
It is not a 2-in-1 like the one you've got in your link though and smaller screen (which I wanted for portability).

            I got it from here:
            https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-zenbook-14-ux434flc-14-fhd…

PS: I saw in a later comment that you don't want too many adaptors. Note that this laptop has a USB-C port, but it there is NO POWER in or out from that port. It needs it's separate charger.

Don't get the HP. I'm on my second one and they suck. Overheating, new motherboard, always updating the BIOS. Just crap comapred with my old ASUS. I won't get another one.

  • Actually I think if you buy it through Amazon, then if a problems occur Amazon will let you return it to the USA via them. Just message amazon US chat to confirm. Heaps of people here bought the Lenovo Flex 5 via Amazon US.

Also re: plug, just buy a quality adapter ($20-30). I bought an Asus notebook from Amazon US and just slapped the adapter on the hand, no issues in the last 3 years using it that way.

    • I like to reduce the amount of adapter's especially when it's an ultra light designed to move around

      • This is the most annoying thing about new laptops. The spectre needs an adaptor if you want to connect anything to it. It defeats the purpose of not including the inputs.
