So there are plenty of external hard drive deals out there. Ok, great - but where are all the good internal hard drive deals?
I'm after a reliable 7200rpm internal drive, 1-2TB.

I needed an internal drive and given the price rises, I just bought a WD Elements 1TB for $77 from JB and I'll just remove the drive - http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/computer-ac…
Unfortunately external hard drives usually contain lower-spec hard drives…
Haven't opened it yet but from research, it looks like it will be a 1TB WD Caviar Green, possibly with only 32MB cache. Should this be ok for a HTPC storing the OS and media?
Been looking too. Impossible to find now. :(
Let everyone know here if you have any luck!
and i thought I was the only one having this little dilemma
I am SO happy… I have quite an excess of Hard drives that I'd bought cheap on various OzBargain deals with the intention to resell on ebay.
But I got caught up in other personal stuff and never got "a round tuit"
The drives had lost value for the past 6 months… and now they are appreciating again LOL
Hopefully this information is useful:
I was in the market for two HDDs for my new NAS (bad time to be building a NAS). The best deal I could find were the 1TBs selling at BigW, but they sold out. So I went for the Buffalo 1TBs selling at JB HiFi for $62 each. A good price I think. Logically I thought both externals HDDs would have the same brand inside. I opened them both up, this is what I found:
Good economical HDDs. I thought I got a pretty good deal? Sure, some argue that a NAS should have the same make/model for a RAID system. However after doing research, more experienced users say that same make/model is good for performance while different make/model is better for reliability.
The case wasn't too hard to open. I was lucky enough to only break one 'case connector' on each HDD - I can now use these external cases for future use. Unless someone wants to buy them from me? haha
any good deals for internal laptop drives? bloody floods have skyrocketed the prices =\
Internal hard drives are in greater demand compared to external drives and with the decreased number of hard drives being assembled due to Thai floods, it is unlikely that HDD prices will subside any time soon.
