still not 4k, the only difference is voice control

    • yup its the Lite version. would have loved to have 4K

      • +2

It's possible the 4K refresh will make it here, hopefully with 4k120 support.

But in the mean time, the USD $10 premium for a USD $29 product is a dick move from Amazon.

Still waiting the fire hd 10 tablet….

  • +7

    Will wait for new Chromecast.

    • Yeah, new Chromecast/Google TV dongle with remote due to be announced 30th September. US stores already have stock. $50 USD

      • +1

Nb, Google TV is the name they seem to be going back to for Android TV

  • Has this got Kayo and Plex access?

    • +2

Plex yes, kayo only via Kodi.

      • +1

Thanks , I did not know something like Kodi existed, solved a lot of Kayo access issues :)

        • +2

I didn't know until a month or 2 ago but Kodi's been good on Xbox One for Kayo.
Too bad the BetEasy 3-month Kayo "loophole" has been closed.

          • @Crownie: Account sharing is the next best option.

    • +1

Kayo can be sideloaded easy enough - have done it on the 4k version and it works well

Don't understand Amazon. We have Prime Video here now. We have kindles. We have their music service. Why don't they launch their devices program properly?? Tablets, 4k TV etc.

Aussies love to spend $ and I'm sure the Kindle tablets will just lock people into Amazon even further. I'd love to understand their rationale?!

    • +2

If there is one thing Amazon is good at it’s data analysis, I’m guessing they’ve done the maths and have decided that there isn’t enough profit in it yet.

    • +1

They just dont care. This is literally a dumping ground for their shit. This is a less loss making endeavour than the Outlet store to them thats it.

  • If this is the retail price then you may as well wait for Prime Day.

  • Is 4k version en-route?

    • +5

Yes it's currently on Monash freeway stuck in traffic

      • LoL I must have a few things stuck in the car park…

  • After it sold out here in Australia old fire stick.

  • Isn't the Fire TV lite only US$30? I wonder why they'd doubled the price for Australian users.

    • +1

      US$30 = ~AU$43 + toll? + GST is making it closer to AU$50 +AU$10 extra markup.

  • Anyone have any luck installing the NBA League Pass add-on via Kodi? I can install it fine, input my account details but still can't see any games or anything…

  • I still love my 4k Fire Stick!!
I'm surprised they still introduced the 1080p version in 2020.

    • I have the first fire stick tv from the US. But its been collecting dust because the prime video doesn't work without using a VPN service.

      • I got mine from the US as well and my Prime works fine. Are you logged in to the AU account on your stick? My is linked to my Au account.

      • +1

Side load AU Amazon prime, no VPN needed. Works nicely here.

  • Unlike the Mi Box no USB ports, so no extra storage, keyboards, network adapters possible.

    Or can you do that?

  • +1

RRP tho, not a special price

  • Looks like some improvements over the old basic version, but still no 4K….

  • For $13 more, you're better of with the Vodafone TV.

    • Only if Vodafone pay me $13 to have it.

      • +1

Sounds like you not used one before

  • +1

I dont understand why amazon keep selling cut down versions in Australia.

If people dont buy them, they will have to realise there is no market in doing that

  • +1

Yet again no 4K. No Freetime/Kids+. No Parental Controls for Amazon Music on Echo devices. No Tablets. No HD Music despite trying to flog their HD Music Echo devices.

    Pile of poo.

  • They can't add some volume controls like every other remote? Meh….

  • This product is the biggest piece of SHIT I have ever used in my life. I've been using two of them for a few days now and I'm ready to toss them in the trash. It's worse than worthless because it actively pisses you off to use it, it slows you down and is worse than free solutions. Even if Amazon paid you five bucks to use this, I wouldn't recommend it.
