Simply energy don’t do racv deals anymore
Instead they say we give u guaranteed discount 15% whether you pay on time or not.
Bugger, guess I won't be changing any time soon then.
easily the best resource!
@bloom hi
I tried that but not much of a difference I’d found from what I’m paying right now :(Then that’s the price of power
- Try haggle with your provider
- Use power off peak
- Use less power
/threadthen that's the best you can do unless a) use less power or b) install solar if you own the place and have good roof space. Since new legislation came in last year, there's less room for retailer to do differential pricing to overcharge some and let others get away with it, they're even forced to tell you if they have new plan that are better for you.
I dont have gas either. I get no discount with Amaysim and my bill comes up to $50 credit on average every month. The point is, usage patterns and setup (PV System/ PV system +battery / no PV system/ heat pump HWS, etc) is different for everybody. Just compare prices and go for the provider that works out cheapest for you.
Depends on your post code and distributor as your rates are specific to your area. What's your post code if happy to share?

You are probably doing 520 kwh a month. One thing to change plans but also look at what is chewing all your money up.
6Kw solar will produce that much a month currently there is Vic rebate and interest free loan. System would probably cost $2k - $3k up front. Shift your usage to during the day for washing machine etc.
No gas appliances therefore your hot water might be chewing 10KwH a day on its own. If you got 3 phase then instantaneous hot water, solar or heat pump hot water.
Yes, I have been using quashing machine for the day time or late afternoons and Electric water heater is for sure chewing more but because it’s a rental property, I don’t have much of an option there :(
I might look into turning it off during the day as I’m
Mostly at work and stuff. But not sure if it’s advisable.Yes, I have been using quashing machine for the day time or late afternoons and Electric water heater is for sure chewing more but because it’s a rental property, I don’t have much of an option there :(
You need to check your peak / shoulder / off peak times if that is the case.
Rental means you are stuck but the solar rebates are available for landlords too.
Probably still will cost them $2k to $3k up front. Maybe you can negotiate they put it in and you can pay them an extra $50 per month. Would probably knock off a significant part of your bill.
Use cashrewards or shopback to sign up for new provider and get some decent cashback. DYOR on which provider to go with. Also check what kind of meter you have (does it do TOU)
RACV gives me 40% off Simply Energy and I spend about $100 a month after discount.
