Epic Pass 2020/2021, Perisher/Thredbo tips

Now that the Epic Australia pass has come out for next season for $859, being based in Sydney, has anyone run the numbers on how many weekend trips (2 or 3 day trips) that you would need to do to break even? I think I had it at around 7 days…

Seems hard to know what the pricing for perisher lift tickets are for next year given this year was a bit of a strange one.

Also, being the first time we are heading down on the EPIC pass, does anyone have any good tips on saving money making the trip down in terms of accomo? We will probably be staying in Jindabyne and not camping.

Mountain collective is also an option but seems to be more expensive if we go on 4 or more weekend trips.

  • From looking back at last year I paid $263 (weekend rates) for 2 days of skiing at Mt Hotham. I'm assuming ticket prices would be around that or similar, maybe a slight price rise… That would be pretty crazy as it is already so expensive.

I think they may have scrapped the weekend 2 day rates special which were around $225 when I last saw that available.

Give or take it should take 3.25 trips (2 days each trip) to get your money back from looking back at those ticket prices unless they do any specials or early birds.

I'm tossing up if it is worth it as well.

    • seems like for city dwellers, 3.25 is a lot of trips.

      • For those that are on the mountain extensively then makes sense. But ye for city dwellers like myself… I find it a bit harder but I could prob do 4-5 trips next year to make up for ZERO snow trips to Vic resorts due to COVID.

And the accommodation is also a bank buster if staying on the mountain so usually I'm down in the nearby townships of Bright or Mt Beauty. So I can't comment on any accommodation near Jindy or Perisher resort.
