Looking for a laptop for my younger sister.
What would be the best budget laptop?
And what's the best time to purchase it without feeling buyers remorse?
Ryzen laptops are much cheaper and more performance-oriented than their Intel counterparts.
I could only find Lenovo Ideapad deal posted long back with $688.
Any idea for a different configuration? Refurbs are good too.

Personally I would be tempted to order something from China like this for $770 delivered with FHD/Ryzen R5/512GB SSD/8GB Ram/Win10, and Xiaomi is a recognised brand…

It's as a gift.. Hence not taking the risk with Banggood and Xiaomi
If work done in browser and security is a concern go Chromebook. Not too expensive either.
Chromebooks go obsolete in just a few years..
I'm seeing some good deals in The Good Guys eBay store.. Will wait for eBay plus deals to pop up
For general use I'd recommend either a new gen AMD (4xxx series) or any recent Intel i3-i7, at least 8GB RAM, SSD, and FHD screen. Other things like weight, battery life, screen quality will depend on your use case. If you want to game then it gets a bit more complicated.

Otherwise keep a eye out on Ozbargain for deals. Dell have regular eBay sales. Lenovo have occasionally good coupon codes.
