Once every few years we get a chance to be hype voters

I fully support this site pretending to be the only internet site that needs to exist.

News, social issues, bargains…. Why stop there?

Let's post weather updates…. Maybe sports scores? Recipes?

Can't wait for the iPhone 12 thread the second it's announced….

This post only a minuscule more forgiveable given the cashback reference.

Bring on every neg. I love it.

  • Is shop back offering money back as well?

    • Yes. Both Cash Rewards and Shop Back = 1.5%

  • I think console launches on OZB are fair game :)

  • +4

Upvoting to upset all the emotional messes.

  • Need a neutral vote button.

    • Careful there. Too much change and the pitchforks will be at your door.

    • It's called not voting

    • you just voted….

  • +1

So no one here buying an Atari VCS? C'mon guys 🤔

  • +8

1st OP, have an upvote to annoy all the neggers! secondly this deal is the highest upvoted deal in the last 7 hours, followed by a pack of 4 batteries, and the weekly coles special.. really whats the big deal? No one makes you click into this deal. But you all are happy to scroll pass the 40 amazon associated crappy ass deals a day and say nothing.. now come at meee with those downvotes ;)

  • +2

It’s a weird time. There’s a lot of stuff going on that magnifies stress. +1 on this deal

  • +1

I would add this to the description in case it turns the heads of any potential ps5 buyers.

    https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/09/21/welcoming-bethesda-to…

Microsoft to buy out Zenimax Media (Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Wolfenstein and more)

Most likely exclusive Bethesda games to come out on Xbox only + PC.

    • +1

Lmao at this point I feel like investing in a pc is better 😂

      • +2

Won't get much of a PC at $749.

  • any1 know the best place to preorder thing?

Any places with a smallish preorder deposit ($50?) and easy cancellations? churs

    • Wait for later today when EB Games offer the 2021 shipment preorder.

    • Amazon has no deposit and JB is $50. You can cancel Amazon in like 3 clicks but JB you gotta call or email them.

  • Decided to spend $200 on something way more boring than an xbox, a preowned thermal receipt printer. 10 year old me wouldn't even recognise myself.

    • +2

The heat must have gotten to you!

  • +2

Get your dancing shoes on guys. It's almost time.

  • +1

My button says "configure now" must be close!

And this popped up below it: "Get up to $225 cash back with a qualified console trade-in when you purchase from Microsoft Store."

  • +7

I got myself one from the Microsoft store :) Ordered in 1 second didn't add anything else. Cash rewards used :) thanks OP

$737.67 isn't the biggest discount but its better then RRP and comes with FREE delivery .. I wont be charged anything until the console ships.

I've not been this excited to buy a console since i got my Sega Master system… WOW that's a really strange feeling. SHIT I'm old. !

    • +1

I rather play the Sega Master System. :)

      • I've had enough of Alex kid in miracle world thanks. lol ( free built in game )

I'm hoping they send it out a few days before the release date of 10/11/2020 so that I get it on the day… what do you guys think are the odds of them doing that?

        • +1

I ordered from MS too and noticed the order confirmation email says "Available: Monday, 9 November 2020". Not sure if that means they'll ship then.

          • +1

@grizzle: I just checked and I also have the 9th, fingers crossed its shipped express too

  • +1

Me too! we can get accessories later, that was a nice simple checkout

  • +2

Wow that was too easy compared to the 3080 debacle….

    • +1

Microsoft has some powerful servers and the fastest internet. :) .. its not easy to take down their website.. I'm guessing the US release isnt going as smooth though.. like :"everything else over there.":

    • +1

Release is almost 2 months away so they're giving themselves time to ship stock, unlike the imbeciles at Nvidia.

  • Well that went a hell of a lot smoother compared to the PS5 pre-orders. Got mine in without any issues.

  • too easy….glad i went with the MS store. Getting a 2nd controller for 20% off was a no-brainer too.

    • I have 4 "like new" Xbox one controllers… any reasons not to just use those?

      • "the new console will be backwards compatible with all Xbox One controllers across all games"

I think you are safe =)

        • Great…. but I mostly just got this Xbox series X to use as 4k UHD HDR Bluray player.. I'm guessing its going to be the best player on earth.. beating out the $1000+ ones on the market. RTS games like the upcoming home world 3 play better on PC though so i like to game there more.

Cant stand that Sony didn't go with Dolby Atmos on their PS5.. I would of got that if they did.

          • @vid_ghost: Dont let those poor souls below see they missed out and you gained a Bluray Player XD

            • +2

@Wakety-Wack: If someone wanted an Xbox Series X they just needed to log in at 8am and buy it.. it was in stock for at least 15 minutes.. more then enough time to put in an order..No lag or issues. whoever missed out didn't bother.

    • +3

They're not the new Series X controllers though, just the regular One X/S controllers.

  • +2

Series x out of stock already.

    • Wow that was quick =(

      You try JB, EB ect..?

      • +2

EB launch stock gone. EB Twitter says there will be a small "post launch" stock at midday.

  • The Shopback button Chrome Extension for me turned red instead of green on the Checkout process. I don't think the purchase was tracked but oh well. Got one in under 2 mins - H Y P E D!

  • +5

Paid $595.46 for the Series X. Can't complain about that!

The transaction was so smooth. Not a single hitch unlike the PS5 preorders. I haven't played Playstation since PS3. I think it's a sign it should stay that way.

My only issue was that I added an Elite Series 2 controller to my cart for 20% off but the discount didn't kick in. I will have to chase them for the credit back.

    • +1

how did you get the discount?

      • +4

There was a 10% off Xbox eGift cards (redeemable on the Microsoft Store) sale + additional 10% cashback via Cashrewards. This equates to an effective 19% off. See this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/560626

I then purchased the Xbox Series X via ShopBack @ 1.5% cashback.

        $749.00 x 81% = $606.69
        $749.00 x 1.5% cashback = $11.24 cashback
        $606.69 - $11.24 = $595.45

        I was off by 1 cent :/

        • +3

          Well played Sir, well played.

        • Can you confirm this as correct with the cashback as I have just purchased and was told that the new consoles were ineligible for the 1.5% cashback. thanks

          • +2

@Dogmeat2019: I keep reading that people have been denied cashback. That is annoying and inappropriate if true considering both cashback websites state Xbox consoles are 1.5% cashback and there are no exceptions. I have screenshotted the Microsoft Store on ShopBack for evidence. Worst case scenario I will miss out on a $11.24 refund 75 days down the track however it will leave a bad taste in my mouth if the two cashback websites set a precedent that you can follow the rules to a T but be denied at whim.

Logging in to ShopBack now only shows click activity however I will keep you posted with what amount, if any, they calculate.

        • Guybrush, can you tell me..? If I have a $100 balance in MS store credit will it come off that before my CC when it bills the unit? It says item is against my CC but will it take from my store balance first? If so, I will load up my MS store account on discounted cards. Cheers!

          • +1

@cunningdrew: I had $50 microsoft credit and I paid with paypal (pending), the confirmation email shows the $50 and $699 as 2 payment methods being used.

          • +1

@cunningdrew: I had a $1,000.00 credit balance because I had no idea how much the console would cost. In checkout, the credit balance tick box is checked by default so it will drain its balance first. It had my credit card selected as the backup so it would have charged it had there been a shortfall.

    • AN UPDATE

It's been three days and the ShopBack cashback is still "Calculating" on the transaction list. I got an email from ShopBack on the same day I made the order stating that the cashback is $0.00 but surely the Elite controller should have attracted some cashback given it is listed under Xbox accessories.

As for the 20% off controller, Microsoft later updated their website to change the wording from Save 20% on a second controller to now be Save up to 20% on a second controller. I took a screenshot of the original wording soon after I made the order and Microsoft shipped the controller that afternoon. The next day I phoned support who said it would take 1-2 business days to investigate (after I supplied them with the screenshot). Poor customer service from a large company who I felt should have given me my $50 back there and then.

  • +2

Series X was even more limited than PS5 I think. Lucky to those that got it.

    • +1

i believe they are limiting it across the day/week.

  • +2

I somehow only got $0.40 back through Cash Rewards, anyone else do better?

    • How did u get a value? I can only see it under my click history at the moment

      • +1

Got an email from cash rewards. I added the moga controller grip so I wonder if that broke it?

        • No email on my end yet, now I'm worried! if it does come through I will let you know my rate

          • +1

@Wakety-Wack: None on my end either, although I did tab over to Amazon while checking out to see if they had any offer up. Might've invalidated the cashback. Only $12 though, no big deal.

            • @Yuri Lowell: They can be very touchy, I think as I used a $50 gift card this will negate my cash back =(

  • i got error, i cant buy it!

    • The've sold their stock.

      • just got mine from MS. Ebgames just in 3 hours now.

        • +1

I placed an order earlier, great to ses a site that didn't go down, as soon as it went live.

          • @xuqi: i have a really hard time with eb. Ms was given me some error but it was my address not being recognised. I am very happy. First time I want to buy a xbox, this time MS did very well. Gamepass is a awesome thing. Very excited. I just need a ps5 now =D

  • What a joke…

  • +4

Hi Oz bargain hunters PLEASE BE AWARE this purchase does not give the CASHBACK Microsoft has made the purchase of the new consoles ineligible for the cashback. I know this for certain as I have just purchased one for my spouse. Sorry but better to be informed

      • +1

I understand that Wakety-wack. however I just purchased one as stated and when the cashback showed only .24 cents I inquired as to why and was told that the supplier(in this case Microsoft ) can at their discretion make certain purchases ineligible for the cashback. So I can only assume that Microsoft has indeed made the purchase of new consoles ineligible for the cashback. The .24 cents was for the purchase of Microsoft gold with the console.

        • +1

I thought it was strange that Cash Rewards or Shop Back didn't update their T&Cs.
Qantas Shopping had, explicitly detailing that Series S and Series X were ineligible for Qantas points earning.

I pre-ordered with Microsoft anyway, because I had credit with them.

          • +1

@wutang01: It would have been nice to have had notice that the cashback was not available, however the cashback was not the motivating factor in purchasing, simply a small cherry on top. Had promised the wife a new Xbox series X for Christmas last year when it was announced. Happy wife have a life(happy life). Now with Microsoft purchasing Bethesda studios it is a must for the Xbox.

        • +1

Ouch, Thanks Dogmeat, That makes sense, I wish they were both on the same page.

  • +1

Looks like no one wants the Xbox Series S Digital Console for $499

Its still in stock everywhere while the Xbox Series X is sold out.

No idea why Microsoft released this trash… i know there's people out there that want cheap gaming but the price ends up being the same after a single 500GB nvme storage upgrade.. what a joke! who would limit themselves so much for the same price at the end of the day anyways.

At least PS5 digital lets you upgrade the storage yourself if you find a deal on a gen4 nvme drive.

    • Good point mate, 2 to 3 good Series S/X games and that thing would be close to full…. why the digital only version has less storage than the cd drive model is beyond me.

      • I think the Series S may make a good 2nd console for another room in the house but not sure I want to pay another $500 for that now…. maybe down the track in a deal somewhere. Still toying with the idea of ordering one now but with PS5 last week I think my gaming budget for this month is well and truly blown!

Prefer to have the X at the start…. though still not sure where this thing is going to go. Vertical looks best but I suspect impractical for a lot of people's media shelving. I know it can go horizontal but waiting to see in person how this looks before I reshuffle everything around to accommodate it!

    • It's a good deal in the US where the Series S is relatively cheaper and the Series X is relatively more expensive. In Aus it's pretty trash. The Series S should've been $449 AUD in keeping with the cost ratio between the X and S in the US, and in line with what $299 USD + GST converts to in AUD.

Instead Microsoft decided to tack on $50AUD for seemingly no reason which they didn't do with the Series X

  • I’m having a nightmare with this series x, anywhere still got stock?

    • +1

      https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/xbox-series-x/267773-xbox…

      ebgames
More stock in 2 hours 55 minutes.

Check JBhifi and Microsoft store as well during that same time.

      • There will be a small shipment expected POST LAUNCH 2020. Current expected presell time of Midday AEST.

        (From EB Twitter)

    • I ended up buying through Telstra it says it will ship after dec 9th. So hopefully get it this year. I was logged into ebgames with payment details saved but kept getting errors. Other than jb no one else seems to stock it.

  • +1

Rather than neg the post, it should be taken up with mods for all the new products announcements. At least this one supports cashback so it's eventually less than RRP.

Honestly, I'm wondering why there wasn't such a backlash as compared to the PS5 deals posted recently?

    • This announcement was a Bargain with my time.

  • +2

Many Xbox Series X on eBay for $1000+ price, that's ridiculous

    • +1

Just found one for AU $2,250.00 Buy it now…. what jerks

      • +1

I saw last week there were a few 'sold' Playstation 5's in excess of $20,000+, in fact I see one went for $50,000 in the history now lol. Obviously nobody is stupid enough to pay that price but at least it stuffs the scalpers around trying to get sales cancelled and not incur $5,000 of ebay commission!

        • hahha thats insane!

  • +1

    Cash Rewards has been terriable.
I made 2 purchases via Cash rewards this year (switched to Shopback from last year), neither of them went through. purchased from BWS and Groupon.
wasted my time and money. Don't trust Cash rewards! will never buy via them again.

    • +1

Yes I have the same experience, half the purchases are not tracked. I shared my experience a few months ago and got attacked by CR groupies on here.

  • -1

This site is slowly becoming OzRRP

    • +1

RRP or above doesn't mean something is bad deal

Below RRP doesn't mean something is a good deal

As you may know as an Ozbargainer, RRP is arbitrary and any mention of it is silly.

Case in point, please link me to any place where I can get this item for RRP

What is important is that its the cheapest of that item and in stock. What drives upvotes is whether that item has merit on its own, and its value once its sold out. If you put random item #5390 at its RRP, it will not get any interest. Let OzB decide what is good value and what is not, not some stupid RRP

      • Definition of "bargain":
"a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected"

This is neither a sale nor "cheaper than usual or expected" so I don't see how this constitutes a deal at all. RRP isn't "arbitrary" or made up by random ozbargainers at all. It's the price that is recommended by the retailer.

By your definition ANY item that goes on preorder day one is a bargain because its the cheapest price available!! (Also the ONLY price). So if tomorrow apple released a new phone at $10000 each it's also considered a bargain right? being that it is the lowest price available.

It's for preorder at jb hifi and eb games for $749 too.

        • +1

Yes - any item that goes on preorder day one is a valid bargain, if its the cheapest and in stock. This is completely reasonable.

Not every item that goes on preorder day one is an upvoted / good bargain / has extreme value once sold out / is very hard to find stock for - do you get the difference? You then go on with faulty logic to attack a strawman that EVERY item should be a 'good' bargain.

Also you did not answer the question - where can I find RRP stock of this item?

If you can't see why a preorder that sells in 5 minutes and is then worth $1200 worldwide is a bargain, there is no hope for you haha.

    • bargain

      (noun)
A thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected.
"Nice, RRP and 1.5% cashback in a few months time, what a dizzying bargain!"

      • It's expected that the 'usual' price of this on secondary markets will be over $1,000+ (minimum!) at launch if you miss the 5-10 minute windows to preorder this.

Scarcity is definitely a good case for an items value.

If the RRP of a discontinued whiskey was x amount in 2015, and you are able to get it at RRP in 2020, would you consider that a good deal? That's just one example of a RRP not telling the whole story.

It's almost a guarantee you will not even be able to get these consoles if you wanted at RRP without waiting for many months.
