Motherboard/RAM Compatibility check

Good morning OzBargain computer experts. I've purchased the recent TechFast 3080 build but I already had some RAM and a NVME M.2 SSD that I wanted to use. I just wanted to check these would both run fine with the Motherboard. I opted for the 3700X build for reference.

  • Ryzen have a tendency to work better with newer memory ICs. To determine what IC you have, you need to post the last 4 digit of the Code right above the barcode. Like 810B, 821C, etc.

But even if your RAM work in the PC by itself, doesn't mean it will definitely work nicely with the RAM they sold you. 2 different IC with different width and depth will never work together, also PCB design of the RAM stick is a factor.

SSD is fine as long as there's a spare slot.

    • Hey I'm not entirely sure what number you're after from here; https://scontent-syd2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/s960x960/11970…

      • was talking about the number on the actual stick right above SN barcode.

but with checking the timing and speed on your package, I would say:

        50% it won't work
40% it will work with the 3200XMP from the other stick you bought fromTechfast.
10% if you got really lucky you can enable 3600Mhz XMP with those 3200 kit.

        • Ooooooh sorry yeah, I'm not wanting both sticks to work together, I just want to see that I can swap out the RAM it comes with for the RAM I'd bought already.

          • @theknight27: Very likely yes.
3600 16-19-19 is almost guaranteed Hynix Cjr or DJR, which ryzen likes.

Even if it's not in the QVL

            • @OMGJL: Btw though to be safe, clear your cmos while swap ram over.
