A free to play event for the Switch provided you have Nintendo Switch Online membership to see if you like the game - the purpose is of course to get you interested in the franchise for the launch of Disgaea 6 in summer 2021.
If you already know you like it and want to buy it cheap, it is on sale until 20 September.

    You're missing the important dates in your post.

    Nintendo Switch Online members can download and play this software for free between 23/09/2020 and 29/09/2020.

          That is what free to play in combo with dates means.
          Also, that's why it's not marked as freebie.

    Since there's already a free demo, does the free to play period have no restrictions on play length then? If so, you might be able to finish the game in the week - 55 Hrs for the main story apparently
