  • How did you get charged $6 for delivery (non-Prime)? I am not on Prime and I get free delivery.

    • Oh yes! You are correct, $6 is for expedited delivery. Let's see if I can update my listing

  • Ordered 2, thanks!

  • How does this compare to the Tontine ones or similar at Target?

Would this be good for Spring/Autumn or is it only good for Winter (ie is it very warm)?

    • These are "heavy" quilts and are VERY warm. You won't want to use this in spring/autumn it will make you sweat balls. Definitly winter only.

Bought for the Queensland Summer, THANKS OP

How do you clean this? It must be non-washable.

    • I'm keen to know this too

    • +1

      you i get it dry-cleaned

      • +1

Do you remember how much does it cost generally? Their machine washable version is currently much more expensive. https://www.amazon.com.au/Australian-Washable-Merino-700GSM-…

        • About $60 - $65 from memory

          • @G77: That's almost a new quilt on the deal then. I reckon a good quality removable cover will be the best option.

            • +3

@virhlpool: You mean people use these on their bed with no cover? That's gross!!

In saying that, I've washed quilts in the bath before and dried on 30 degree plus days and no ill effects afterwards, I wouldn't spend money to dry clean them.

              • +1

@placard: A lot of new houses/apartments don't have baths anymore.

                • +1

@Cozzie: Well there is also the laundromat too. But in saying that if you use a cover it doesn't need washing that often, even just airing now and again on the clothesline is enough.

Still surprises me that people use these with no cover…yuck.

                  • @placard: You don't really need a quilt cover if you use a flat sheet.

                    • @His_Holiness: I guess not, although could be surface dust, etc. And wouldn't the bed look fairly plain just a white quilt, without a nice patterned cover?

For me though, i had flat sheets, makes me feel trapped in the bed. Doona only is so much more flexible.

    • Dry clean. They have a separate machine washable product (which is a lot more expensive) https://www.amazon.com.au/Australian-Washable-Merino-700GSM-…

    • +2

Hang it on the clothesline in the sun. Unless someone wets the bed there shouldn't be a need to get it dry cleaned.

    • +3

wait! people clean their quilts ?

      • +1

        Y'all a bunch of slobs.

I have two quilts that get rotated at the end of September and the end of March (summer/winter).

When the season ends the one coming off gets a wash before being stored away for 6 months.

  • ordered 1, thanks

Bought this brand (wool comfort) on eBay when they had a sale and I'm ready to bin it. Bought the heaviest wool one they sell, it's warm and all. But… It's casing cover is terrible and slippery. None of my quilts like it. I've tried pinning the corners etc but its pointless. It takes the pin with it. Its even breaks the safety pins lol. Can't even pull the blanket over yourself because it instantly separates from the doona cover, and all you end up with is the doona cover and no insert in freezing VIC.

Did anyone else have the same issue with this brand? I'm thinking maybe because it's really heavy? Sticking to Tontine because it sits perfect in the cover.

    • They have the highest possible rating across multiple reviews on Amazon though.

      • +1

I know! That's why I really wanted a wool comfort doona. Maybe I ordered the wrong one :( I bought it from their store on eBay because it was on sale for $75 from $109. 700gm wool, king size.
The packet says 'casting: 100% finest cotton fabric'. Feels silky.

Maybe it's different to this that's listed as japara cotton?

Definitely warm but sadly impossible to use :( hopefully this one listed is better.

  • Back in stock at $109. Did we use some coupon code or is it simply deal expired?

    • There was no coupon. Deal expired.

    • Expired

  • Damn I missed out

    • Dont worry. I dont think this is genuine merino wool. Its near impossible to get the real deal for this price.
The filling has to clearly say its merino wool and it doesn't.

I have bought from this seller before and am very happy. Look at this product :
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/700GSM-Merino-Winter-Wool-Quilt-…

      Clearly says :
Filling: 100% Premium Merino Wool - Australian

  • Filling: 100% Pure New Australian Premium Wool

So filling isn't merino wool then?

  • Just a note - we've got the 350gsm and 200gsm version of these. Even in winter in Melbourne the 350gsm was more than enough, almost too hot.

  • Noooo! I missed out

  • This or Tontine for Sydney winters?

  • Can someone explain how a 500 gm minijumbuk costs $400 and this 700 gm is $55? What's the catch?

    • Marketing… How can Adair's charge $900 for a doona vs $60?

I've had minijumbuk and the casing was much softer than this but apart from that it's all Aussie wool, I could walk 5km from here and shear my own sheep if I wanted to.

  • +1

We just bought one of these, the casing is quite rough and loud. Apparently the casing is Chinese.

Apart from that went with 700gsm and it's not bad, only problem is it did smell like fresh sheep when new.

    Overall 4/5.

  • Great, I just bought this exact 1, 3 days ago for full price!

  • damm missed out :(

  • For those who bought this quilt, I found this great deal for the cover set for it: https://www.bigw.com.au/product/house-home-quilt-cover-set-s…
$22.90 shipped, cotton (looks like from the description), king size.
