I've got maybe a bunch of old computers.
2 gen Intel i7s GTX 460s, DVD drives, old keyboards, broken monitors, power supplies the whole bunch.
I've left them in storage for over 3-4 years and have accumulated dust and small pest droppings.I'm sure these parts will have valuable parts like copper, gold contact points and working components.
Do you think these items have any value left or should we just throw out with the council pickups/ewaste collections?
Hoping to get around $50 per tower, maybe $10-15 per monitor or so. Anyone know of any services in the Sydney area that do this sort of stuff?
Do you intend on taking the towers to a scrap dealer and them handing you $50? Fat chance that'll ever happen. I take a lot of computer equipment to scrap dealers every year and unless you break everything down to the most basic components you'll be lucky to buy a case of beer with the profit.
You just need to check with the different scrap dealers to see what prices they offer for scrap. In my experience a lot of the smaller companies will pay better than the big ones.
Best way I've made money with the scrap dealers is disassembling hard drives and selling them in bulk but even then it's not really worth the labour put into it. Otherwise you're just better of selling the gear second hand on Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace etc.
