Uber Eats Quality of Incident Support

I'm trying to understand what the support response means.

Problem:

This morning, i tried to order some food from UberEats but none of the cards on the account was working. I have 3 cards attached to 2 banks on file. Everytime i tried to complete the purchase I kept getting errors for every card. I have tested and confirmed that the cards actually do work and they dont have any locks / blocks on them. I tried Doordash and it worked fine (thankfully). I wrote to their support asking to investigate but then i got the following response instead:

Support Response:

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble in placing an order in the Uber Eats app.

We checked your payment profile and found that your cards ending in 8890, 8061, 3531 and Paypal are inactive. We suggest you remove the card and add a different credit card.

If you have further difficulties relating to payments, please let us know.

I'm trying to understand what the support response means.

It means no Uber Eats for you.

Have you complained a lot in the past about your orders? One of my friends used to complain about food arriving cold for most of his orders to get the meal for free and has the same issue as you. He cant use UberEats anymore, only Uber.

As a side note I never had an issue with UE bringing cold food but most of my deliveroo orders were cold and I complained about them all. Gave up on all food deliveries not long after because it really is a ripoff.

      • My recent menulog order was cold…. Not the drivers fault, just the order was made ASAP while they were taking ages to assign a driver and so my meal got cold in the process…. It was probably ~30 minutes :(

        • I notice that with all my orders too.

        • Is it a standalone restaurant or in an area with many restaurants?

I find all food I order in a busy food area is assigned very quickly, probably because all the drivers just hang out in the carpark waiting for the next uber eats order to be assigned to them.

          • @samfisher5986: For me it was a locals hungry jacks and the lack of drivers might be due to their free delivery promo….. I live very close tho, like near the same road…..

Edit: Just a quick edit, I've never complained to get free stuff… I observe the result and weigh the worth of ordering again… I learned not to buy their chicken burgers for a few years…

    • restart the app
    • try updating the app
    • check your card expiry dates
    • stop scabbing free food via false complaints

Australians love paying more for takeaway food with Uber Eats just like they love being ripped off by the private sector for electricity while insisting that it's cheaper because a failed theory said it was cheaper.

You think they might work what reality is given they're losing their own money in this arrangement but they prefer to go with the theory that doesn't predict reality instead.

Perhaps people just work out their opportunity cost of getting in the car/bus/whatever, going to the food servery, ordering, paying, and then going back home, and decide that, to them, it is worth paying the extra for the convenience. I say this as a non-user of uber eats.

Also, how's the energy price in WA going? Last I checked, my parents there were paying a higher rate for electricity than I am, while also getting a lower solar FIT.

After 8pm in Melbourne, it'll likely cost me $1652, plus food and time cost to go get it myself. I'm certain that UberEats is cheaper than that.

It seems to suggest that you should remove your cards, and add them again.

  • +4

Did you perhaps open many UberEats accounts with different phone numbers and emails but used the same three cards and billing/delivery address to scab the "$15 dollars off for your first order deal"? Cause that may or may not have happened to me.

I also had a colleague who used to lodge complaints about her food being delivering with a few missing items. After a few complaints, Ubereats decided to simply block her accounts from making orders.

It's a dumb business decision any way you think about it. With so many other food delivery services competing in the market, Ubereats are just going to lose out.

    • +7

It's actually clever. There are plenty more customers out there, and they are the most recognised brand. Why deal with problem customers.

It's a dumb business decision any way you think about it.

Why would they lose out? If she's complaining all the time to get a refund, they'll lose out if they DON'T block her!

      • Dumb because it's a short term fix where they could lose to competition in the longer term as more customer move and stick to other services like Delivery, Door Dash, etc.

        • +3

This is not the type of customer you want to retain short term or long term!

          • -1

@bobbified: This is the mentality that causes customer churn in the short AND long term!

Customers will spend where they can do so most conveniently, like it or not.

Just because you can't accommodate to their ideal purchasing habits and preferences, don't think they won't spend their money elsewhere.

Don't blame the ocean for being too big just because your net isn't wide enough to catch the fish you need.

I would almost agree with you, but this customer isn't spending. She's lying and will steal from you at any given opportunity.
If you don't give in to her demands, it's likely she'll try blackmail you with bad reviews. Good riddance, I'd say!

Have you ever dealt with the public? Some are just serial pests, nothing will please them, and all they do is waste your time, and coat you money.

The customer is not always right.

    • Imagine being so entitled to expect to get everything your order.
      /sarcasm.

Just shows what a shit company uber are.

  • I've been trying to get back my duplicate charge for almost a month now. They say it was just an hold and the amount will be back in my bank account. But, it never came back and now there is no response despite 15+ emails. Unfortunately no phone support…

    • +3

Chargeback with your bank, it's the quickest way.

  • I'd check in with the OZB forums for support on this Uber Eats/Paypal issue.

    • +1

well, it was probably OzB advice that caused the issue in the first place!

    Get money you poor

  • Get new phone number, new payment method, new email and make a new account through the website.

In a few months if you want an account with your main phone number, you can use this link to say your a new customer trying to sign up and "for some reason it says my phone number is in use". They'll deassign the phone number from your old account and you can make a new account with it or change the phone number on an existing account to it.

  • Diji1 has a good point. Obviously except for lockdown etc., all of the uber, deliveroo etc. companies, esp. uber, are charging beleaguered restaurants too much for the service they provide. Only consumers can fix this. As often as possible (and when possible), order by phone and pick up yourself - lots of restaurants offer discounts to people who do this, and are able to make more out of the sale as well. Go local, or they'll go broke, and you'll have to travel further or use a cold-food, getting-more-monopolistic delivery service who's picking up from further away. To those submitting ambit claims, as in every other business area, maybe one day you'll realise this increases prices and minimises service for all of us, including yourself.

Uber Eats for breakfast….. what world are you living in

    • I know, but it may have been scheduled for a later delivery.

I'd say there was a temporary website technical or payment gateway error with the payment processing or login session preventing payments going through. I've experienced it on other websites when my cards have worked elsewhere.

    • Well, it was a world of hurt… Moved into a new place.. So no cooking stuff ready nor was any of the utensils so… in that world.. it was Uber eats… or so i thought…

  • Cancel your card and get a new card
