Decent Cheap Studio Speakers - Edifier?

Hi All, I have a PC I've just built for use with Logic Pro. I was after a cheap set of Studio speakers. I have been using a JBL Link 300, that was given to me, but it doesn't seem to cut it with Guitar sounds.

Would Edifiers like this or these be suitable?

I do have a single Yamaha powered studio speaker that is 30 years, but obviously finding a match is impossible.
I saw the Yamaha HS5 but its more than I wanted to spend, and probaly too big to fit on the desk.

  • I recently bought the Edifier R1280T. Pretty good, would recommend for the price point if you don't require bluetooth.

    • Not at all. I have 2 JBL Link , a HK Onyx so I'm covered there. ;)
I'd use my Yamaha Sounbar, but the Bass doesn't seem to be coping these days.

      • Edifier 1280DB has bluetooth, I got one last October for $80 (black friday victory!)

I use them as TV speakers, in a smallish loungeroom. They go more than loud enough.

So if you're not in a hurry, I'd suggest seeing if the sales in the Year of the Covid have anything to offer

  • I got some $100 edifiers and am happy with them. Much better than the $100 Voll I bought. Not as good as the $700 pair of Harmon Kadon though. And not as good as the $800 Aktimate Max speakers, both those last two can go LOUD without much distortion. The first two you will want to be sitting right in front of the speakers, or in a small room with them.

    • I'll be standing in front. There's not much room on the desk after the 32 in monitor sits on there.

      • I put my speakers behind my monitors, raised just above the monitors on empty boxes.

        • Admittedly I have my setup on a 4 drawer wardrobe. A table would be good, but its a bit cramped as it is.

  • Get some Fluid C5 speakers. Sound good.
