  • what's the cancellation fee like?

    • Maximum Early Termination Charges (ETC) $594

soooo $900 for an iPhone 11….. seems pretty high considering the 12 is coming out soon

        • actually $992 with the first monthly payment hehe

          • @[Deactivated]: If you cancel it on same day, there is no first month payment.

            • @jimojr: Same day means? After porting to Telstra?

  • +2

    What $10 credit?

    • +3

Jb were doing a promo few weeks ago of $10 monthly credit on their $99 plans bringing the monthly payment to 89. Although, I am pretty sure it expired with the Note20 offers.

New iPhones coming in one week though. Considering they're releasing 4 models, the 11 will drop significantly.

      • +2

Rumours of next iPhone being delayed until October, nexts weeks event is supposedly Apple Watch Series 6 and new iPad Air..

        • I think they can just announce the iPhone and say it will be available in October. Either way, not a good time now to buy the previous model.

          • +1

@ChubbyMastiff: New model will probably have the same or similar stuff in it with different names anyway.

Either way apple users are getting screwed regardless.

            • @michaelTito: Don't think so. Based on rumours, IP12 may actually be better with more screen size options (and with 5G)

      • Not sure why you got negged, it’s quite reasonable expectation.

      • +3

Every time I think it's now a decent price for latest iPhone, someone says new model is coming next week/month :(

        • Drop that upfront fee to $99, and i reckon i'll jump in. $894 seems too expensive :(

        • +2

          That’s because everytime u think it’s a decent price, it’s September :P

Lol, I don’t think you know how Apple works.

        • +1

Apple dropped 150USD off the 10R when they released the 11 last year. If they remove the 11 from the coming product lineup, which I doubt, Aussie retailer would still have leftover stock on sale for a couple of months.

          • +1

@ChubbyMastiff: They dropped the price, but I wouldn’t cal any offical Apple price drop “significant”.

      • Sounds good, i'll be on the side waiting for the iphone 11 to drop in price. I reckon $600-$700 i'll jump in but i seriously doubt so.

    • +1

Is $894 a good enough price to jump in? Considering if 64gb is enough storage capacity.

      • If you could not find any more cheaper than $894 then it's good enough to jump in.

        • Unless the iPhone 12 comes out at a close price.

    • +1

Pic link has a dot at the end and comes up 404 error. Link in description works.

    • Anything on a 256 11 pro?

    • Does anyone know what price is written on the invoice?

      • Haha. Surely they’ve stopped this by now.

  • +1

Why would they be encouraging people to go instore for this? Seems counter intuitive in middle of pandemic

  • +3

Sees like a downgrade from the deal a few weeks back with the S20 plus on the same plan for $199 upfront.

Believe the Iphone 11 was at the current price too. Think they started at $349 and dropped it to $299 throughout the promotional perios.

  • +2

People spend so much money on plans!

    • +1 That's a crazy amount per month for mobile service. I'm paying $20 per month for 20GB.

      • +1

Yea haha! I'm still on the $12.50 for 10gb a month, although I would like a little more, I think 20gb is perfect for peace of mind for most. I'm at the office wifi during the day and wifi at home so some months I use less than 5gb which I never thought I would use that little. As I get older I use less I suppose.

      • If you’re willing to sim swap every three months or so can shave another $15 without too much trouble

  • +4

Got the $199 S20+ deal and loving the phone. I'm keeping the plan as I need Telstra and the 150 gigs.
    This is a massive downgrade

    • Was it the same Max Cancellation fee of $594? including or excluding the first month?

      • Yep it was. But I'm on the plan for the time being

  • So, for the s10, if you immediately cancel the Telstra plan and pay the etf, it's $893.

The Samsung s10 "carrier version" is $899 at JB. It's unlocked, so wouldn't the only difference be the splash screen?

    • You may just be right about that!

  • Does anyone know if you downgrade your plan after purchase, so from the $99 to the $55, instead of fully cancelling

    • Don't think so. They have closed the loop holes. You can't even move to M2M plan without paying cancellation fees

  • +2

I've put a lot of thought into this, since I'm currently looking to buy an iPhone. Conclusion is, don't buy now. If you look at this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/507182 from December last year, JB sold the iPhone XS 64GB (Release $1629) at $999. Now I might be being too hopeful, but if we assume similar drops in price, that means JB will sell the iPhone 11 Pro 64GB (RRP $1749) at the $1000 dollar range December this year, after iPhone 12 comes out and they have to clear stocks for unsold iPhone 11 Pros. So basically if you wait three months, you'll be able to get a iPhone 11 Pro for the price of a iPhone 11 right now, and this seems like a no brainer to me. Now this is assuming that the price drops will be similar to iPhone XS, but hey, I guess there is a precedent. Fingers crossed. (Although, if iPhone Pro drops to $1100 let's say, what will the iPhone 11 drop to? 600 bucks? That seems highly unlikely! I've got no idea. so i'm interested to hear your thoughts on this.)

  • They also have the same deal for a S10 128GB with $0 upfront, which is more worth it? my mum is due for an upgrade from Voda

    • Deffo the S10 imo. (from experience with it)
