Which USA Computer-Carrying Shops Allow AU Purchase/USA Recipient?

/rant

I was strung-along, for a week, by Lablists on that last Rasp Pi w/8GB. They took my order (me AU purchaser/he USA recipient), took my money, sent a text it was on it's way.

Then a text saying it was refunded (no reason). I emailed to ask why— got an apologist who said not to worry. Same person replied later it was "all good" .

Then later, they're sorry, it's a mistake & they fixed it— he'd see it in 12 days.

I reply I had the sms saying it was refunded, do I need to provide my card details again?

Then, "oh, so sorry, out of stock"!

F-this. Really. I was in constant contact so they ought to have at least held onto my kit until it was completely resolved. Either go out of business or hire someone to handle your website, because that's so incompetent & sh*tty, it's just reprehensible.

So, who the f can I buy a freaking computer or Pi from, who is in the USA, who will accept my AU CC or Paypal and will ship to my friend in the USA?

Is it 2020 or 1820???

/end of rant

  • Probably went to different people in the process, and when they realised your overseas just gave up

    • Not good enough. It's a small business and anyone contacted could have forwarded the issue to anyone they thought might be helpful. Their site allowed the buyer/recipient in different countries AND they took the money easy enough…

Back to the question: do you know the answer to it?

  • They supposedly are in Massachusetts, USA.

Just searched them on USA Better Business Bureau, USA whitepages, — nothing.

Before you get angry, take a step back and look at what you're asking. What you've just described is the typical credit card fraud case. Someone using a credit card from a different country of origin to make purchases in the hope that it can't be traced over the borders.

I wouldn't be surprised if the auto-cancellation of your order was part of their e-commerce fraud protection.

    • Then their site order form should NOT allow the purchase. Full stop.

It would be a sneaky way to simply get data (email, CC) w/o having to provide the service they're purporting.

  • Why doesn't your mate buy it himself and you can transfer the funds?

    • I'm trying to surprise him.
