Hi, I went to Harvery Norman this morning.
Asked if they could price match an online store (big company) and the manager said we do not price match online stores.
Any suggestions?

Harvey Norman plays by their own rules. Best take your money elsewhere.
They probably didn't price match because the online store doesn't have the same overheads e.g. rent. DJs is the same in that whoever you price match needs to be a bricks and mortar store

In my experience thats pretty common for any Price Match guarantee. Most will say in the T&Cs that they will not match online stores, or that it must be a brick and mortar store within X km.
However I am now reading their price match guarantee and it says this:
"The Shop With Confidence Price Guarantee means that we will match genuine advertised prices of leading Australian in store and online retailers."

What proof do I present when requesting a price match?

There is only one true Harvey Norman store and it's the one at Auburn. All the rest are franchised stores or franchised departments within a store.
The docs you read could only apply to the store at Auburn depending on the wording. If you have a look at the hardly normal sales they indicate that the sale is applicable to the Auburn store and may also be available at franchise stores, but its up to the franchisee.

They can price match or refuse to price match whoever they want.
I have found in Harvey Norman there is no need to price match, they are normally flexible with prices if you haggle (except for Dyson and Apple). The other week I wanted a tumble dryer, it it was $50 cheaper on Appliances Online. Simply haggling with the sales person got me $15 away from the AO price, which is pretty fair considering I could take it home straight away.

I actually thought that Harvey would price match.
An entity cannot have a price match guarantee and then decide when to use apply it. It does not work that way.
HN reimbursed me the price difference. All good.
Can you use gift cards? When I first mentioned it to the store they said no but gift card supplier said yes.
Buy from the online store.
I expect you want the item now and not wait the time it takes for delivery. Let businesses make their own Business decisions and accept it.
