Team iso care packages in Melbourne

With Melbourne extending lockdown we're sending out the team some care packages. Problem is the $50 budget per head is turning into $35+shipping.

Anyone know of places doing care packages that deliver themselves, or specials if you order for a lot of people? Trying to avoid just giving everyone UberEats coupons.

Its nice that your company cares about its employees like this :)

More companies should. Cheaper than hiring and training people to just provide nice bonuses.

Exactly this, I'd like to say we're nice people but we've had a $1k a year per person social fund since day one of the project we're on. It pays for itself in our retention and engagement stats. We're actually spending less than usual because money is tight (goal is one hell of a party when we're allowed out again).

  • Have you given any thought into what the 'care packages' would contain?
It is a pretty broad request without more detailed information.

    • Probably food but we're just talking a group of people so anything with generic appeal. Open to booze, we couldn't decide if it's a bad idea or not to encourage drinking but most of the team would like cocktail kits.

Looked at some baking kits for those with kids (those "in a jar" kind of things), but they're generally pretty expensive for what they are.

Have you considered pre-paid Visa or Mastercards?

        • Yup, and don't really go for them. It's the best value for money, but morale-wise does nothing (and there's studies to back that up). It either pays a quarter of a shop at coles, goes into the petrol tank or $44.50 gets used online and the rest of the card gets forgotten, it's not very engaging. Particularly at the moment stuck at home, buying things online, it's hard to buy exactly $50 worth or do a part payment.

I'd rather the overpriced baking kits and everyone showing off their wares or a bunch of cocktails delivered and a Zoom happy hour. Terrible value for money but it's far better from a morale point of view.

      • I'd say, in the current situation, eGC (or digital prepaid visa/ mastercard - if there is such a thing) seems to be the best option. No delivery cost, no getting lost in the mail, and people can use it to pay for whatever they fancy (grocery, booze, entertainment, etc).

    16gb ram

  • Option A. Amazon or another online retailer that offers shipping.
Option B. Go find a grocery or small supermarket offering delivery and negotiate.
Option C. Pay a courier to go around and do all the deliveries (Try a place like Civic). Might be cheaper shipping to pay a guy for a day than pay a bunch of separate shipping costs

    • Thanks, this looks perfect since they do their own deliveries in Melbourne, will reach out to them and see if they'll do us a deal

  • Providoor if you want to send a nice meal. But $16.50 shipping, and meals can be expensive (though they’re very, very good).

Alternatively check Click for Vic for other local places that might be doing things.
