I have a Laser brand player. Switchable to any region, although in terms of playing quality it's not up to scratch. It pauses a frame every few seconds or so. On panning shots it's quite visible. I had a Kogan region free player although that died after 18 months and just a few discs played. Kogan gave a refund anyway.

Buy a new Blu-ray player and region-mod it. In our case, we bought an LG player - to remove the region encoding I had to burn a small file to a blank DVD and play it through the machine. Two minutes later, Region A here we come.

  • Mod your ps3 with custom firmware and use the appropriate program to change region.

    • is this risky?

      • In what sense?

        • can go wrong?

  • You could be banned from playing online is about the worst.
