Are Websites Relisting Items So They Can Price Jack?

I was looking at a wallet on David Jones website, $50 but out of stock. Yet I found the exact same wallet, same name, same photos, listed with a different 'style number' for supposedly $60 at '20% off' bringing it down to 47 bucks. Im wondering if this is a tactic companies use to get away with price jacking? You cant buy it for 20% of $50 because its 'out of stock'. Or is this likely to be just a website error. Just curious if others came across this sort of thing on other sites.

  • The second item is 6% cheaper than the first one. Buy that one.

    • My point is it appears to have been done purposely so you cant buy it for 20% of $50 = $40

A different style number could mean its the same item but they're getting it made somewhere different.

    • Fair point, particularly at the moment.
