Description from JB:

Here's a blast from the past! Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. arrives in stores on November 13th.

This new collectable device is inspired by the original Game & Watch systems first released in the 1980s. The original handheld device included a game and could also be used as a watch to tell time. The original Game & Watch series sold more than 43 million worldwide.

Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. features a modern +Control Pad. In addition to playing classic games Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (released in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2) and a special version of Ball with a Mario makeover, Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. also functions as a clock, with 35 little touches to discover, including some guest appearances from Mario’s friends and foes.

As always, enjoy!

        Buy now, profit later.

      • I do not really want one at the first time. After reading the comments here, I think it could be interesting to get one.

    • Same, you can always cancel later.

There is also the pre order price guarantee as well.

Its not like JB where you have to pay up front.

      • Yeah I panicked and ordered from JB. They charged straight away and I had to pay delivery. I've requested a cancellation now

        • That's why I never preorder from JB. If I have to get from them. I just walk instore on the launch day.

          • @ce5himm: Yeah. They've been terrible with packing in my experience as well.

Ordered the Majora's Mask Collector's edition game a while ago and the cardboard box was completely crushed as it was just thrown in a padded bag.

My Yakuza Collection from not long ago didn't come in great condition either. I'd be nervous about getting a collector's item like this from them.

Glad I was able to cancel and order from Amazon

            • @chromium: JB shipping is pathetic. Tiny bit of bubble wrap if you are lucky and in a satchel. They don't believe in boxes.
They sent my $470 Animal Crossing Switch in a satchel

  • Ordered for the original $60.

is there any resell value on these? asking for a friend

    • There is not.

    • Buy it if you want it, and if you resell it later for more, then thats a bonus.

    • +1

Order a shitload and then ask Broden.

    • Is your friend skido1?

  • +2

Amazon back in stock at $71! (Still cheapest in Aus I think)

    • ungh knew I should have waited… now to cancel panic order at EB

  • OOS again

  • And its back on at Amazon for $71.47

    • +2

      They're just messing with us

  • wonder if it will be possible to hack like the nes and snes mini 🧐

    • USB-C so I would say yes almost for sure.

    • +2

With only 2 buttons, it'll only be good for NES and Game Boy emulation.

  • +3

Missed out. Dammit. Had to order the JB one. No C&C option available but shipping says from $1.99. When i checked out in then says shipping is $6.99 and no cheaper option. Anyone else have that issue?

    • +4

Yup, bit scammy to say 1.99 then only offer 6.99

  • Annnnnd it’s gone (again)!

    • Most stores will stock it, and while its another Nintendo "limited" edition. I think there should be sufficient stock at launch.

The Amazon one is a deal because its 20 off/9 off RRP with free delivery, and no fuss cancellation if the reviews shows it a dud.

      • +1

I dunno, its a super niche item and Nintendo themselves have said its limited. I wouldn't count on it being widely available, but I'm happy to be wrong.

  • I gave a thumbs up to the deal and I didn't even get it from Amazon. I was too late to the party for the Amazon price, but nabbed one from EB. OP, you had me at Game & Watch! I'm all in!

It's not the reason I purchased, but I reckon this will be one of the Nintendo items that's hard to get until there's a second shipment manufactured. The first lot will be gawn!

    • Especially as it will release in the lead up to Xmas.

  • I remember having a LCD one of donkey kong when I was a kid

    • I had manhole, octopus, fire and a few others

    • They're worth a pretty penny if you have them in good condition

  • Nintendo playing the nostalgia card again

    • Nows the time to do it. Retro fever is real right now.

      • I still have a boxed Sega Genesis. Wonder how much I'll get for it.

        • +1

Right now, more than you would have 6 months ago. NES and SNES Min's are fetching about their original prices whereas 6-12 months ago you could pick them up for half that price. Same for the PS mini. They have all recovered price wise after being pretty flat for a while. Covid-19 has increased peoples appetite for all things retro.Thankfully i got all mine on the low end of the market.

EB is taking preorders for those that are inclined. 79.95

    • Anyone able to select pickup ? I hate waiting and especially waiting on Aus Post considering their poor delivery during covid. I'm sure earlier in the day it was either postage free or pickup free? Maybe EB just trying to make more $$$ out of us with postage.

      • I ordered mine from EB as i didnt see this post until this arvo. Based on timing, i think i didnt order mine until quite a bit after this was posted. Paid a little more but im happy i at least got an order in. Always hard to tell what stock levels will be with Nintendo items. And this is pretty reasonably priced to be honest. Also chose pickup to save on postage.

Managed to grab 2 (JB and EB) bit didn't get this sweet deal. Still happy.

  • +1

Damnit for not checking ozbargain while at work. I really want one.

  • +1

Honestly, back in primary (1980's), you're everyone's best friend if you brought this to school! good times…

  • I'm 99% sure Amazon is going to send these in a god damn padded envelope - ofcourse come dented to hell thanks to Australia Post

    • God I hope not. That's what JB Hi-Fi do. I've had a couple of cardboard collector's editions arrive crushed from JB Hi-Fi

Are Amazon even using Australia Post at the moment? Stuff I order from Amazon is arriving quickly compared to other places. I ordered something from Big W, it got shipped the next day and arrived 2 weeks later. I order from Amazon and it comes in a couple of days and seemed to be delivered by some guy who pulled up to my house in his car :)

This might just be a Victoria thing

      • For something this size, i'm pretty certain it'll come in their standard envelope.

Yep Amazon are using Aus Post, atleast in NSW

        • Yeah I don't think they are in Vic at the moment.

I checked tracking on some recent items on the Amazon website and it has photos of the parcel on my doorstep. I don't the Australia Post do that. I also don't get any notifications from Australia Post for Amazon items like I usually do.

    • Actually, good point. One plus to missing out on the Amazon price and gettting EB click and collect.

  • Looks nice but it needs to be hacked and have all the Game & Watch games plus all the major two action button consoles installed to it. Looking like this unit but playing: NES, Master System, Atari 7800, TurboGrafx-16, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, and of course the amazing Amstrad GX4000.

Big W currently have stock for preorder.
    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/game-watch-super-mario-bros/…

    • Perfect timing, was waiting for the likes of big W or even target accepted pre orders.
Doesn't seem to be a limit either unlike the previous pre-orders from ebgames, gamesman etc

    • Looks like it is now sold out

  • +1

Back in stock at Amazon for pre-order.

    • Yup, got an email. Ordered one.

      • yeah - I did too. I see they already out of stock. Lasted about 20 minutes.
