  Do not touch 1&1!

  Their weird billing attempts to lock you in. I tried to let a domain lapse with them and they threatened to initiate recovery action if I didn't renew.

  Insidious, backwards company out of touch with today's digital industries.

    What did you do then? Same is happening to me, Instead of cancellation the domain they renew it and sending the bill to me. This is the first business i have seen which is forcing customers to pay even if they do not want the item

      I let the domain lapse, ignored them. They're a terrible company, super dodgy.

  I ordered new domain for $1 after sometime they have cancelled my order saying

  Dear XXXX XXXX (Customer ID: 68203XXX),

  Your order was canceled at point of sale. You will need to seek service elsewhere.

  Agreed. Tried to take advantage of their $1 domain last year. What they did was to force me to prepay the 2nd year, and threatened to cancel my domain otherwise.

  If you’re planning to take the risk, my advice is to prepare to pay $1 + 1 year inflated domain registration fee or don’t choose a domain you really want to keep

  Stay away from IONOS. If your domain lapse they will renew and send the bill to pay for next year. Experiencing this at the moment.
