Is The HyperVolt Massage Gun Worth It?

I am considering purchasing a massage gun and the HyperVolt seems to have great reviews online, but it is definitely expensive at around $500.

Is this brand significantly better than the $100 massage guns on Ebay? Or is it like the "Daniel Wellington" of watches - hyped up brand with extreme mark ups?

If anyone has used a HyperVolt before, it would be great if you could comment your experiences, whether you recommend it or not, and what other massage gun options to consider?

Thanks

    • He doesn't say much there…

Have the hypervolt. It gets good use as I'm pretty active. I can't comment on the knock offs but it's a good product albeit pretty pricey. If you think you'll use it often I think it's good tool to have.

  • search ozb for hypervolt i read someone at victoria is selling his/her second hand.

    • couldn't find such on ozb classifieds

      • sorry it was theragun pro but yes its gone now

I have the Hypervolt plus and I absolutely love it. Really get good use out of it.

Its not as noisy as the theragun, but the new gen theraguns are a bit quieter than before and have smart functions built in,but I still dont think that they are as quiet as hypervolts.

Cant compare them with knockoffs as I havent used anything else.

    • bought from and how much and when?

      • Bought it from Flexfitness on ebay when they had a 10% off sale. I also noticed Hyperice offer 10% discount from time to time and send you a voucher if you add the item to the cart and dont purchase

  • as opposed to a cheap jigsaw paired with the massage attachments from ebay? ;-)

probably a much louder option but that'd get the knots out for sure :-D

  • Is the hypervolt worth it? …No, of course not.

I have the Hypervolt Plus - $650 AUD (with $50 discount applied by purchasing direct from Hypervolt online). I also have the $80 eBay clone of the Hypervolt and even a $40 version which is also a Hypervolt knockoff from eBay.

    Here's my experience.

First experience with a percussion massage gun was the $80 ebay knockoff. It was the digital display one with 20 step power increments and 12 attachments. A mate let me use his at basketball and I fell in love. Knowing full well it was a knockoff of something, I did some research into what it was a knockoff of. Discovered it was a knockoff of the Hypervolt. …Now intrigued in the real deal, I decided to drop $650 on the Hypervolt Plus.

Hands down the Hypervolt Plus is a significantly more powerful and enjoyable experience. However, my first Hypervolt developed a rattle about 2 months in. I contacted support and even sent them a video of it making the noise. They basically disregarded my claim and tried to fob me off. I stood my ground and sent them an angry email and they told me to send it back to them. I had to ask for a prepaid postage label, they didn't offer it at first.

They let me know when they got it back and eventually conceded it was "out of spec". Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I accepted a brand new replacement. It took two weeks to arrive, the original took two days.

The replacement device was dead out of the box. Charging it gave me 20 seconds of run time before it cuts out, completely dead again. I lost my sh*t.
I contacted them again and demanded a full refund. I couldn't believe how poor their quality control is, on such an expensive device.

They sent me another prepaid postage label and I returned the second device. I only heard back from them today, regarding the replacement device. They tried to downplay the issue as being a simple battery fault, and asked if I would still like my refund. I told them unless they want to sell me the recently released (and completely useless bluetooth enhanced version) for half price, then I would want the full refund. Wait and see what they say.

To summarise, the $80 eBay knockoff is at least 80% as good as the real deal. I could not, and would not recommend anyone spend the extra on the real deal when there is a considerable risk of recieving a defective unit and or having to deal with the poor customer service.

FYI the $40 eBay knock off is just plain terrible and not worth it, under any circumstances.

FYI FYI - in the 3 months ive been dealing with this Hypervolt saga, I have purchased (5) $80 ebay knockoffs for me, my family and friends and not one of them has had an issue. They are equally as quiet, with comparible battery life. They are just not quite as powerful nor do they have the same amplitude as the Hypervolt does. IMO the amplitude is just as important, if not more important than the power rating. Try using a $40 ebay knockoff if you want to know what I mean.
