Looking to buy a portable dehumidifier as I have a mildew and condensation issue in my home.
However now that summer is approaching, I'm considering an AC unit with dehumidifier functionality, so I can use it year round (mildew isn't an issue over summer).
My question to the experts is will the dehumidifier function be as good on the 2-in-1 compared to a dedicated unit?
Will going by the L/24hr extraction for dehumidifying be an accurate indicator for comparison?
I'm looking at the below two:
Dehumidifier - Delonghi DDS30COMBI
AC+Dehumid - Honeywell HN14CES
Hoping to keep the budget under $700. Based on my research I'll need a 14,000 btu unit for the concerned area.
Cheers
A portable aircon can dehumidify well, but it doesn't cool very efficiently. As part of its design it pumps hot air out of the room, but that means that new air is being pulled into the room to replace it (which will be warm air from a different room). This means that the portable aircon is always fighting to cool the room. Compared this to a split system, which can circulate and cool the same air, so once it cools the air it only needs to maintain the temperature.
