Sonos Move. Worth the Upgrade?

I have a Sonos One SL. It lives in my office, and it's great!
I don't have a Sonos multi-room setup, but I have enjoyed the ecosystem from various devices without the hassle of Bluetooth pairing.

I like the idea of occasionally taking my speaker out onto my deck - It's a single cable and I have a socket available outside - so up/side grading is a want, not a need by any stretch.

I'm curious what Ozb thinks, and more broadly any opinions of the Sonos Move.
Does the flexibility the Move offers make it a worthwhile upgrade given that its will be almost exclusively planted on its charging base baring those few occasions?

Be cheaper to buy another play 1 on sale $227 now and leave it out there. We have a playbar/sub and 2 x play 1's in our lounge room, also 2 play 5's and a play 3 in family and bedrooms. Had all that for a long time now and all runs great with our mesh wifi.
Thinking about a play 1 for our back patio too.

Only thing is the weather resistance on the Move might come in handy if the deck isn't under cover. Otherwise agree with your suggestion. The Move effectively replaced the Play3 in terms of sound while also checking the bluetooth box, so if sound matters then that's also a consideration. If I were OP and bought the Move then I would sell the One SL.

      • Precisely why I started to consider it. Move vs the One isn't a like-for-like. It does have a sound/volume upgrade, with the added flexibility.
And I agree, I would probably plan to sell the one.

I got one one a birthday whim, and love it. I have 2 sonos ones, and an ikea sonos bookshelf syphonisk thing as well, and it helps to have one that is a bit mobile. I love the Move to take out to the backyard - about 15 metres away and my wifi works ok outside. They are big and a bit heavier than i expected, but great sound with the auto-tuning Trueplay. I keep mine in the living room most of the time on the dock charger, and take it outside when I need to.
Depends if you can easily power it from a power point outside, or can be bothered using the extension cord!

    • Yeah, I was also surprised when I saw a photo of the One vs the Move next to each other. I initially thought they were the same product, with a battery on the bottom.
It hasn't become a factor for me as yet, but I do/did appreciate the footprint of the One in my workspace.
