I think ALDI's fresh produce deals are different in each state

  • I remembering hearing somewhere that ALDI power tools are Einhell rebranded. Which is the same as the Ozito Power X range?

Does that mean I can cross-use their batteries?

    • Nup

    • Einhell is Ozito.

      • +1

As far as I know, both Aldi tools and Ozito are (or at least were) made by Einhell, but with different battery packs, so not interchangeable. You can probably get adapter's, but then you can get adapter's for most major brands.

If you prefer Ozito for availability, best you're is that Bunnings matches the nearest offering.

      • Technically Ozito is Einhell, not the other way around.
But, that doesn't really matter, I guess.

No compressor or table saw in Melbourne catalogue. Also bad time for tomahawks on the peninsula.

due to lockdown Aldi removed any bulky items that requires more than 1 person to load up your trolley.

Been waiting for the table saw for so long and of course it's a) the same price as the normal price for the equivalent Ozito and b) not available in Victoria.

Wouldn't bother anyway with cheap table saws. Usually have wobbly fences and misaligned blades which are very dangerous.

I bought a Aldi (Taurus) tablesaw off Gumtree for $100 a few months back. I thought it was great quality. Made a few table tops with it. Alignment and measurements are all accurate. Even the laser.

What would you recommend instead then? I don't want to spend all that much when all I want one for is to make some home DIY stuff.

I've tried using a circular saw with a straight edge to cut some shelves to size, but I struggled to keep the saw flush with the guide. Plus the base of my Ryobi flexes enough I can't get straight cuts even when I managed to keep the saw on the guide for the entire cut.

        • Have you tried Bunnings' $199 table saw? Can probably return it if it doesn't work out.

          • @xrailgun: Bunnings doesn't have a change of mind policy on used items, but Aldi does.

            • +3

@ocoolio: In my experience Bunnings take back anything no questions asked

          • @xrailgun: I was hoping Aldi would make Bunnings reduce the price. The money from the price drop would go towards all extra stuff I'd have to get to make up for the saw's shortcomings I've read about (flimsy stand, the fence, loose mitre gauge, etc.).

    • Fellow Victorian - it's a bugger. I bought an einhell table saw and though it's cheap it does the job well. I would buy a backup at this price if I could.

    • This table saw looks identical to the Ozito unit, save for the colour of the body and the blade guard. Same pressed steel top, stand, etc. I've owned the Ozito table saw. It didn't break on me, but is a really poorly made saw and will continually frustrate you. Don't waste your money.

Anyone find that strawberries seem to go bad really quickly?

    • We bought a heap mid-last week at Aldi and they were really good. Finished them off today and no complaints. Perhaps you got a bad batch? I'm in Sydney.

Silly to add one more battery and make it incompatible with all their other tools!

    • drill you talking about?

      • Yes, I think it's the only battery-operated item there.
All of their other range is 18V (though they call it 20V), so it's a bit silly to me do bring out one that's 22V.

  • anyone bought 24V Cordless Hammer Drill from Aldi before? are they good? compare to Bosch?

Bunnings will run a special to match. Usually ozito, but with the ryobi fathers day kit, I'm hoping they drop ryobi prices.

      • Pity everything in VIC is stuffed. I really want a 4A or 5A Ozito battery so I can try to get one of those steel tray battery mowers one day.

I’ve got the steel deck Ozito pxc lawnmower, goes great with 2x3ah jobbies

  • Has anyone got experience with the air compressor and nail gun? Would it be sufficient to build a small timber framed backyard sun room etc.?

    • A corded air-gun is a pain in the ass. If you only need a small timber frame to assemble, then buy a cordless driver and use screws instead, much easier (and you can use the driver for practically anything later).

Not that I don't love compressors, but this is not the best use case for them :)

    • Any word on the flow rate for this?

Waeco portable fridge is an old model but great value at $499 - assuming it's the CF40.

is the 'smart thermocooker' a cheap ripoff of the Thermomix?

  • Im hoping thats a typo on 24v for the cordless hammer drill as ive just invested heavily in their 20v tool range

  • I understand and agree with Aldi playing it safe with the "one person per household" rule, but hell I would've grabbed that table saw solo anyway.

It's a bummer, as I'm getting into woodworking during the lockdown.

  • What’s the difference between the portable hammock and this one from Bunnings? https://www.bunnings.com.au/sommersault-double-hammock-kit-s…

  • Gees looking at the Ozito table saw compared to the aldi one, and they really do look the same BUT the slider on the aldi saw is the whole length of the table and the ozito is only half???

Now do I really need this saw lol

  • Some products not available in Victoria…

    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-12-…

  • I bought one of these table saws. Mine has come from Victoria because it's got covid. I'll be returning it in no time. The thing has support arms different lengths, Bolts missing and the table top has a nice round curve on it lol. I do however like the stability of the fence though after reading other reviews. Just a shame I wasted my time with it.

    • Same here - will have to return as table saw is not safe. Fence locks in well but very difficult to setup and maintain parallel to blade. There is too much flex in the plate surrounding the blade and this catches and stops thin cuts as they pass through.

      • Did you end up taking it apart to return or returning as is?

  • Pulled apart ;)
