I've got one of these, dunno how cheap you can get it for but if you can get a mulch and catch.

The mulcher means you don't have any grass clippings to deal with, as they are chopped finely and pushed back into the lawn = healthier lawn & less time mowing! ;)

I believe the theory is that engines are all pretty similar in reliability unless you buy a Honda.
The quality lies in the thickness of the metal body, the axles and bearings for the wheels and the rigidity of the plastic that make the wheels.

One option if you have a smallish lawn is to Import a Bosch rechargeable from Amazon.co.uk
I couldn't bear to pay that much for a lawnmower but also didn't want the hassle or noise of dealing with a Petrol, so I imported a corded Electric Bosch from Amazon, delivered in 5 days from placing my order for $169.
Importing involves a bit of hacking or buying a UK->AUS socket adapter of course.

If your lawn is relatively even (doesn't like big bumps) and you dont mind a cord I can strongly recommend a Flymo hover mower. Having had one for several years I will never go back to a petrol dinosaur. YOu can get one for around $200

    • Are those hover mowers any good? Easy to adjust cutting height?

      • Depends on your definiton of easy - you undo one bolt to take the blade off and then add spacers underneath (it comes with a few). They are great if your lawn is level and you mow quite regularly. It can get bogged down if the grass is too long or uneven. It is also really good for odd shaped lawns as you can push it into corners, over pavers, slide it under bushes etc etc. There is no grass box so it leaves all the clippings behind

I wonder if it's possible to operate those products if you are sober?
