Controlled burning is underway. Take note around your area. We went for a long bush walk yesterday in an area in NSW's North Shore to avoid the start of controlled burning there today. We could see fire engines and ambulances getting ready and smell a bit of smoke from other areas and in the evening the air quality index deteriorated around us for a few hours by the time the kids went to bed. We'd closed windows well before hand and the air purifiers got rid of any smoke that got in quickly.

"Take note around your area" If you have asthma or people with respiratory issues and don't want your house to smell of smoke…..maybe take some preventive measures?
A bit of smoke is better than what happened last year.
Absolutely; this is to raise awareness - e.g. can check for planned burns and close your windows, etc.
So?
