The Australian hosting price is pretty good, consider 35GB here is quite expensive (+ much less competition here in Australia). Although you need to factor in whether you really need that much transfer — OzBargain is only doing 3GB-5GB a month.
The US hosting price is just "okay", especially when you compare with many big players out there. I have also got a VPS, all for myself, for less than that each month, with more space and bandwidth (+ root login). In Los Angeles as well so sub-200ms ping from Eastern coast Australia.
