Crazy Deal. I paid 279 + delivery for 32gb of this same ram. Might be overkill for most though.

I bought trident royal 32GB from amazon US a while ago for just a bit over $200

      • +6

Since we are all trying to outdo each other, I paid nearly $300 for 32Gb of Corsair ram a couple months ago. They’re about $200 now.

        • +1

lol i'm in that same boat!

    • +1

Wasn't from this deal was it? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/558691
      Because that's CL16

      • what's the difference between CL16 and CL18, if you don't mind answering.

        • +5

3600 CL16 is where you want to be. This is lower quality ram.

          • +3

@bryans: You wont find much (if any) CAS16 RAM at these capacities. Higher densities and tighters dont seem to mix just yet.

          • @bryans: Agreed, Zen2 loves that particular sweet spot in speed and timing.

CL16 might be hard to find though in a single 32GB stick.

OK I'm not an expert but this is what I understand…

CL stands for "CAS latency" ("Column Access Strobe" latency, if you really care) and it basically measures how many clock ticks it takes to access memory.

What needs to be taken into account is the memory speed: 3600Mhz in this case. CL18 here means 18 out of 3600 ticks in a second, so basically 5 nanoseconds. Yup, kinda fast. CL16 @ 3200Mhz is ALSO actually 5 nanoseconds, so you can see CL on its own is not enough to know how fast it is. Similarly CL14 @ 3200Mhz RAM is almost the same as CL16 @ 3600Mhz RAM.

So a lower CL number is better when comparing the same speed / frequency memory, but you need to be careful when comparing different frequencies. CL16 would definitely be a bit faster than CL18 but it'll cost more to manufacture and it comes down to whether you have workloads that really need it. As some of the others have said, CL16 @ 3600 doesn't seem to be very common yet.

Just in case you wanted the tech explanation! :)

        • got 32gb but cl16 version of this (trident Z rgb not neo) for $375 from newegg last month. Confirmed samsung b-die.

This is basically $11 more for 32gb more - still a good deal nonetheless.

      • Same ram, different deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/554168

But yeah the timing is lower on the one I bought.

ive had trouble in the past with warranty with newegg; id rather stick to local stores or amazon.

  • I think it includes a free WD Green 120gb SSD to sweeten the deal

    • +1

Doesn't appear to be included with Newegg AU unfortunately

  • Good deal, but don't want to take risk for international shipping, it may take an age to arrive.

  • Whachu gonna do with all that gig?

    • +2

      Run Chrome Browser

Have the entire internet open in Chrome.

All that gig inside your rig.

  • I have the exact same Ram but it’s 3200Mhz. Is it worthwhile upgrading to 3600Mhz?

    • +1

I'd say no. Perhaps try overclocking it if you have Ryzen? (don't have experience with this personally)

    • +3

If it's CL16 there's no point. You could probably OC to 3600 if you loosen the timings to 18

    • Whatever speed you choose to go with, just make sure to keep the infinity fabric clock 1:1 so bump it up to 1800Mhz for 3600Mhz RAM etc.

    • Probably better off buying a better ceiling fan and cranking it to max, you might notice a higher performance uplift.

  • Htm wonder if this will work on my old z58 mobo in struggling with 16
    Edit no for amd

  • Will this play along with an old-school Core i5 6600 and H170 chipset mobo?

    • +1

You'd be limited to 2133 MHz unless you get a Z board

  • This, or the G.skill trident 32gb 3600 cl16 for $240?

    • Do you have a need for this much ram? If not save the money and get the 32gb

    • Where did you see that? Best I could find was $259 for Neo 3600 16-19-19-39?

      • Amazon
        https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WTS8T2W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b…

But the price changes week to week. even as little as $5

        • Thanks. That's a good price for sure.

I am on a time limit (returning faulty laptop) so had to go for AU stock. Got the Neo on the recent Shopping Express deal. At least the gap between US and AU pricing is closing vs past years, but RAM and SSD is dropping hard at the moment!

  • +2

dang i paid $527 for this a couple of months ago. the news is true, ram and ssd prices are going to be even cheaper now.

  • Would this be Samsung B die?

    AUD $382.80 now

  • Will this go on my Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4?

    Supports DDR4 3866+(OC) memory modules

    • Yea should be fine, just remember to enable XMP in BIOS
