Hi all, I purchased a lawn mower on Amazon AU and it has dropped 45% today due to being listed as Deal of the Day.
I've engaged Amazon support to see if they can refund the difference, but the CSR said they can't issue a refund, but he advised me to return the item and purchase the new item at the new price, and he will organise the pre-paid return labels.
I stressed that they are saving money on shipping both ways if they just issue me the refund, but he is adamant that I should just return it as per policy, as I can return them item for a full refund within 30 days.
Any advice on what I should do? I feel bad doing the return as I've already used the lawn mower and would be more than happy to keep it.
I was thinking the other way would be to order the new item and the post the new item back once it gets here.
It seems silly incurring more costs to them when they could just do the refund and achieve the same outcome.
Plus the shipping both ways isn't good for the environment and the postal system.
I'm also concerned that my account might be flagged for "gaming the system".
Edit: forgot to mention, but I purchased it on the 16/8 (8 days ago) and it arrived 20/8 (4 days ago).
Edit: followed suggestions from commenters and they finally issued a credit for the difference. Thanks all!
try another CSR. keep trying til you get your refund.
