Dashlane’s best features include:

Unlimited VPN (Virtual Private Network). Keeps browsing activity private and unblocks geo-restricted streaming services. The VPN tested really well, running faster than many standalone VPNs — and Dashlane offers a no-logs policy, with all browsing data under ultra-high encryption.

iOS integration. Dashlane includes its own authentication system which sends 2FA codes to your device — you can even send codes to an Apple Watch. Dashlane also syncs with iOS’s native face and fingerprint scanning features when logging into your Dashlane account.

One-click password changer. Changes hundreds of weak passwords with one click. This time saver is one of my favorite things about Dashlane.

Dark web monitoring. Scans the dark web for passwords, emails, credit cards, or other personal information, and sends a notification if anything has been compromised.

Voice Control sync. Apple’s “Voice Control” is an accessibility feature designed to allow people with disabilities to navigate and use their iOS device without their hands. Dashlane is the only password manager on my list which fully integrates with Voice Control — giving you the ability to operate all of Dashlane’s features with just your voice.

Dashlane is also highly secure. It uses 256-bit AES encryption to keep all data secured on its servers, but it also offers the option for local data storage if you’d rather secure your own information on your own network.

  • $40 a year subscription for a password manager? Why?

Modern browsers can do all that and sync between devices for free.

    • They have VPN bundled

    • Why store it on a browser when you can use notepad.

    • Some reasons are:
      - cross platform support at both an OS and browser level
      - OS level integrations, like you get with iOS which allows password entry into apps, not just browser sessions
      - many paid solutions have more comprehensive sharing features, especially those with family or team plans
      - extra security features. Dashlane for example has a dark web scanner that reports you you when your accounts appear in known breaches (There is free alternatives to this such as haveibeenpwnd though). Some have secure file storage, VPNs etc etc
      - Better UI over browser built in solutions

For most however something like LastPass or Bitwarden for free would suffice, or even the browser if a bunch of the above doesn’t apply.

If you don't need the VPN, check out bitwarden password manager

I've use Dashlane everyday, since I was a beta tester (so long ago), so I get a few features that's in the paid option free, like unlimited sync devices, passwords, storage for life. No VPN or major features though.

It's good, most sites work fine, but there are few sites where a page refresh is needed to get Dashlane working.
Another odd thing is OzBargain (and a few other too) that needs a name instead of an email address wont complete sign in automatically.

Password Depot 6 (old) was really good til I forgot the master password, as I started playing around with Dashlane at the same time.

Bitwarden is highly recommended on most sites/reviews & security related YouTube videos.
I'll likely start using this instead soon.
