Dodo porting authorisation method?

When you try to port a number, all winning telcos send a SMS with a verification code to the number being ported, some expect you to reply from that number, some allow you to type that number on a web form.

Anybody knows which method Dodo is using? This affects the ability to port to Dodo when the number being ported is on prepaid and has no credit, hence cannot reply to a SMS.

If anyone is interested on this topic, so far I have compiled the following:

Kogan - SMS
Lebara - SMS
Telstra - Web
Woolworths - Web
Aldi - Web
Vodafone - SMS
Amaysim - Web
Optus - Web
Lycamobile - Web

  • Just did a Port from Telstra to Dodo last week and no SMS. But I did it in store so not sure if it is different

    • Thanks for the info, but doing it in store must be different since they can verify you using other methods. When the port is initiated online a SMS will be sent.

I can't even do it in store now, since all Melbourne kiosks are closed due to stage 4 lockdown.

I may have to give them a call tomorrow if no one else reply.

    • do they charge a fee to port instore?

  • Its not “winning” telco, it’s GAINING telco

  • Only Vodafone network requires SMS response, as you listed.

    • Ahhh… so the verification method is actually tied to the underlying provider (Telstra/Optus/Vodafone) and not up to individual MVNO to decide? That's a very useful piece of information to know. Thanks a lot!
