Not the same Mountain Designs as before. Spotlight Group took them over in 2018 and use the name to brand their junk.
It's changed hands so many times since I first bought from their original equipment designer, mountaineer Rick White, in 1979…
Was made in Brisbane then. I've still got a prototype down sleeping bag he made. Restuffed many times free by MD & still good in snow conditions.
Manufacturing moved to China under a new owner after around 2000 to keep costs down. But store costs, expansion & competition meant it's days were numbered.
Except with Spotlight Group / Anaconda, they really have sunk to a new low. Poor product quality, atrocious support. I don't say this lightly but really want this operation to go bust. Read online reviews particularly recent ones which are consistent with my experience with these thugs. https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/anaconda-1

Thanks OP. Despite the comments above, I think these jackets are fantastic quality. Much better quality than my current Uniqlo down jacket which was a pleasant surprise.
You obviously didn't experience how good it used to be. It was a business set up by experienced Australian mountaineer & outdoor specialists, designing & making their own gear.
Now it's just another online business that rebrands cheap goods.
Comparing to Uniqlo is where your problem is….
