I misread your title, looked as though the Mobo + CPU was only $20 on top of the case, was thinking DAMN what a deal! :(

    • same haha. First time I read it, I thought it was $120 for the bundle :P but never the less, still good deal :)

Nice bit of kit for the price

  • Looks good but the website is not clear. Looks like the case is $160 - not $100.

    • +1

As the rep mentioned, $160 includes air shipping, $100 is via sea (1-2 months delivery).

    • The case will cost $160 including shipping by air (1-2 weeks). Only $100 if shipped by Sea (1-2 months). The $60 discount is the savings made by not shipping it by air.

      • I don't see price+shipping on there, I just see $160 flat.

        • Because the shipping fee by air is already included in the price you see there!!

  • not sure, with a basic 1155 mobo + cheap intel cpu will wipe the floor with this atom combo even integrated graphics for around same price, but i guess this is quieter for htpc

    • The Atom 330 CPU only consume 8W power. How much money are you going to save if you run this all day, considering the power bill is going up every day?

      • The i5 2500k only uses 9~11W while idle.

        • 8W is TDP, thermal design power, maximum power it can ever consumed. What is i5's TDP? that is more like 45W.

      • The Atom 330 CPU only consume 8W power

the cpu might consume 8w, but chipset + accessories consume additional power. i doubt less than 30-40w total.

        • But still consume far less than standard CPU (around 50W TDP) + chipset. The power supply included is only 60W, the entire unit will only consume less than 60W. Yes, possibly around 30-40W nominal.

    • Is the floor in your lounge that dirty?

Looks like a reasonable deal, but there seem to be a lot of possible options for 2 pretty straightforward items. Feels a bit like choose your own adventure.

    From what I can surmise:

CIIBAT HTPC casing $100 via sea shipping (1-2 months)
    - Add 5% for PayPal
    - Add 10% for eBay and PayPal
    - Add 20% for 1 year warranty (otherwise 3 months only)

CIIBAT HTPC casing $160 via air (1-2 weeks)
    - Add 5% for PayPal
    - Add 10% for eBay and PayPal
    - Add 20% for 1 year warranty (otherwise 3 months only)

Nvidia Ion based motherboard + Intel Atom 330 cpu $120 (via air)
    - Add 5% for PayPal
    - Add 10% for eBay and PayPal
    - Add 20% for 1 year warranty (otherwise 3 months only)

How deep does the rabbit hole go? What surcharge do I pay if I want to buy via eBay, but pay bank deposit? What if I buy both items - will one ship via air and one via sea for $220? I'm not asking as a potential customer (nice gear but already have my HTPC sorted), just pointing out how confusing it can be for would-be buyers. Good luck with the sales though!

If you buy both casing and motherboard, we will ship it according to the route you choose. By default, we will ship it by air (1-2 weeks) because I know no one wants to wait 1-2 months. If you choose to take the $60 discount, then we will shipped them by Sea (1-2 months).

For ebay, just look for our listing. The ebay listing assume shipping is made by air (1-2 weeks).

      Note: Nvidia Ion based motherboard + Intel Atom 330 cpu = $100+$120 = $220

  • Does the motherboard include a DC power supply?

    • Yes, the motherboard includes the DC power supply.

  • IT will be a very good deal if $100 for the case pick up from the Melbourne office.
BTW, the VFD likes similiar to my old ANTEC HTPC case.

    • Prob there is nothing at the Melbourne Office, you pay the postage to get it down from Hong Kong :-P

      • but they can ship a container from Hongkong to Melbourne, then post from Melbourne. Much safer than shipping from Hongkong directly for us. I know how slow it is to ship by seas. Anyway I got so many HTPCs and tablet in home now, no need for anyone.

        • We can do this if we can collect confirmed order for enough units to ship a container over and immediately distribute the goods to everyone who have paid.

      • As stated in the posting, we do have a demo unit here in Melbourne and a few more on the way. We just don't have the space in Melbourne to store all the stock, unless we have confirmed orders.

    • If you pay now, I can offer you the $100 deal for the casing to pick-up at Melbourne Office when additional stock comes. (this is essentially the same as shipping to you directly except it comes to our Melbourne Office instead, but you would then have to drive down here to get it… It is your call. Or you can come down here to look at the demo unit first and then pay for the order.)

    Looks decent.

  • I would love to see an Australian supplier ship more mini ITX solutions - in particular casings, which just are not available in Australia, such as the CFI A7879 Mini-ITX NAS/Server Case

  • -1

Not affiliated with them but pc case gear have got a range of mini itx cases to choose from. These cases look too flimsy

    • +1

Please clarify who's case look flimsy?
I can guarantee you our casing is sold. The casing itself is 6kg in weight!! That's why it cost heaps to ship by air.

    • I looked at the pictures too. How can you say they look flimsy?

      • If you can't tell its a cheap generic case with a vfd i cannot help you.(check out the way the hard drive is secured) This is a good case if anyone is looking for one with a vfd and remote control

and you do not pay an extra 20% if i want a 12 month warranty. And its a well known brand

Here's something that is worth thinking about as a real alternative…

I recently bought the Lenovo M55p with Windows XP Pro for $139 delivered from a deal on here (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54196 - very similar deals are available on Ebay or http://graysonline.com.au for similar small form PCs) and added a graphics card for $75 delivered, making a good little HTPC for a total of $215. It beats this by coming with a complete OS, hard drive, DVD burner, mouse, keyboard and memory, all of which seem to be still required with this system (costing more than a hundred dollars extra!).

It's not quite as small as this deal, but not heaps bigger. Not as wide as my Blu-Ray player, but deeper and a little higher. It's a small form PC and is dead quiet and runs cool, with a Core2Duo E6300 processor that is quite capable.

It was working fine without the extra video card, as someone else attests on the previous link, but was only VGA out. The VGA was surprisingly clear on my 54" plasma, but I wanted HDMI to have the sound integrated with the video signal, as my TV wouldn't allow VGA & analogue sound input to be merged.

To do HDMI, you need to source either a PCIEx1 or PCI video card with HDMI out and then you're in business. Unfortunately this system doesn't do PCIEx4 or x8 or x16, though some very similar ThinkCentre systems on Ebay do. Whether you use a PCIEx1 or PCI card, they need to be low power as it's only a 225W PSU. I recommend the HIS ATI 5450 PCI that you can get from several places in Australia - works really well - several people on the net complain that this card doesn't work in PCIEx1 format in this computer, but it works well in the PCI version. Some of the Nvidia Ion cards are available in PCIEx1 format (like the 210), but they're hard to find in Australia. For the ATI card I got see http://www.shopbot.com.au/m/?m=HIS+ATI+HD+5450+SILENCE+PCI+2…

Whether you use a PCIEx1 or PCI card, you will be able to fit in a TV tuner card later on, as you will have either a PCI or PCIEx1 free. TV Tuner cards are fairly common in PCIEx1 format.

I am using XBMC (http://xbmc.org) on top of Windows XP very happily with this configuration, allowing file sharing, web browsing and gaming on my TV, or if you're worried Windows XP will overload it you can always use the XBMC live version built on top of a cut down Ubuntu, or the new OpenElec fork that is an incredibly minimal Linux which is never seen and boots straight into XBMC - http://www.openelec.tv/ - this is referred to on the XBMC blog atm.

I also got a Riitek Rii Mini i6 remote keyboard & trackpad & learning remote that I am relatively happy with for under $50 from Ebay. It has a minor problem at present with keys repeating because they're sticking, but it seems to be improving as the keys are used over only a few days. I am also using a wireless mouse, but XBMC will work with an MCE remote no problems.
