Bought a Dryer from Harvey Norman and Received a Used/Display

Hi guys
I bought a expensive dryer from Harvey Norman.
Thought it’s brand new but before I turn it on, I noticed that there are plenty of water in the container.
This reminds me that I didn’t see the delivery guy unpack the machine. And also there was water dropped on the floor when try carry it to the laundry.

Since I have already sign the delivery doc, I think it just hard to prove it.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Updated: I was told it is factory tested.
Without any issue just to close this topic and thanks for all the suggestions.

The only logical solution would be..

To call them or send them a message to raise your concern?

You should immediately launch legal action against them, call A Current Affair, leave negative reviews, and shame them on twitter and facebook until they replace your appliance with a new one out of the box.

Or you could just talk to them or the manufacturer regarding your concerns.

    • Thanks mate
I am going to. Just want to be prepared and make sure there shouldn’t water in there in any circumstances.

  • Did the delivery people do the installation into the taps for you? That could well be the source of the water you found. I wouldn't be too hasty about this, but assume that Harvey Norman will treat you honestly. Give them a ring and tell them exactly what is worrying you. If you got a display model by mistake (but I can't see any reason why a display model would have water in it… don't these just sit on the showroom floor?), they will surely be eager to make amends.

    • I don't think dryers get connected to taps? My guess is the water is from someone else drying their clothes.

    • No installation, hose still in the bag

      • Have you fully read the instructions?
It might mention that a factory test will result in "some" residual moisture
        .

  • Yeah, it does sound used

  • The best suggestion would be to immediately call Harvey Norman when they open today.

  • Was it a Bosch?

If its a Bosch they test them at the factory and often have water still in them when they ship.

    • Thanks a lot mate.
      That make sense.
There is about half bottle of water instead of “moisture”.
I just rang Harvey Norman and they have no idea why there is water in it.

  • Depends on the brand it could have a faulty inlet valve which let water in when it was connected to the taps.
Time to launch legal action against HN.

  • At the same time, i think it would be weird if someone really bring wet clothes to HN to try out the dryer.

It might be demo unit, but having water in them sounds odd.

    • They must have tested out a washing machine first.

  • I was told it is factory tested.
