Hi there, just had a question for Translink's Go-Card use for transferring between services.Lets take the following example.
Location A falls in Zone 1
Location B falls in Zone 1
Location C falls in Zone 2
If I travel from A to B, and within 60 minutes tap-on again and travel from B to A, I get charged only 1 Zone ($3.37) for the whole journey.
My question is, will it be the same if I cross zones? I want to travel A to C to B, each time tapping on within 60 minutes. Will this be treated as 'Continuation' and I will be charged only one time, or twice?
A to C: Charged for 2 Zones: $4.11
Tap-on again within 60 minutes
C to B: Card Reader will display 'Continuation' on Tap-on. I get down at B which is in Zone 1.
Will I be charged $0.00 when I tap off at B? Or will it consider a new zone and charge me anything additional?
In short, what would be the overall cost for me for travelling A to C to B?
From the Go Card user guide:
When transferring between services, your go card will calculate one overall fare for your whole journey. Simply touch on and touch off for each trip of the journey and make sure to:
- Continue your journey within 60 minutes from within the same or adjoining zones.
- Transfer up to three times in a journey, starting your final transfer within three and a half hours of your initial touch on. The card reader will show a continuation of travel message.
- Complete your journey within six hours.
You will be charged only the initial cost of A to C.
I've gone to the city and back home on a single fee using this method before.
