Nice, got a few things on my wishlist I've been meaning to buy.

"Confirmation of delivery or goods received must be made on AliExpress within 90 days of placing your order to be eligible for Cashback."

Rules out economy shipping options, then.

    • It's been stated previously that there's some leeway for this under the current conditions.

      • +4

Not for me. Two items taking really long to arrive (still haven't arrived). The seller was a bit slack and took a few days before posting the items. Cashrewards cancelled.

To make the matter worse, the leeway AliExpress gives is beneficial to the sellers. Buyers actually have less time to raise items not received. In my case, I was given less than 24 hours to raise it before AliExpress closes that window. If I want to extend that window, I need seller's agreement.

        • +1

If you open a dispute on AliE with the seller, their first move will likely be to extend the window.

Once you have the goods, open a ticket with Cashrewards and they should amend things for you.

          Here's confirmation of that: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8862563/redir

            @jasswolf:

If you open a dispute on AliE with the seller

That's the problem. With the postage window extension AliE has given to the seller, I will only have 12 hours to raise the case after that window is up. If I don't do it within that 12 hours, AliE won't do anything.

I have no problem AliE extended the postage window, but AliE needs to extend the window for me to raise the case. 12 hours, seriously?

            • @netsurfer: I've personally had no issue with having it extended sooner, you can open a dispute any time before then and then close it after they've given the extension.

              • +2

@jasswolf: It doesn't work for me right now. I've tried. It basically says I cannot open item not received dispute until the window is up. To make the matter worse, due to the seller sending out the item later than usual, the confirmation windows has finished.

AliE has warned me about confirmation window has finished, but the stupid thing is I cannot raise item not received yet. Have you raised a case AFTER the Covid-19 postage extension is in place? I raised cases in AliE before Covid-19, but now, this whole extension thing is just stupid. How can I possibly raise item not as described when I don't even have the item?

                • +1

@netsurfer: Ok that you didn't mention. So this is something like 120 days since purchase? They'll award you a refund, whether the package arrives or not, just follow their guidelines, or use the automated support system to get in touch with someone regarding the order.

                  • +2

@jasswolf: The issue is the system is unreasonable: 12 hours is the window I've been given to raise item not received.

It doesn't add up. If AliExpress decided that my confirmation window is up, it should let me raise item not received immediately. Why AilE is letting the clock run down till the very last 12 hours before they will stop helping me with item not received to allow me to raise the case?

A lot of Chinese sellers use cheaper delivery services involving multiple agents in the middle. Some of the packages I have not received had been sent to Singapore first and had it reposted from there. A number of them took 1 month to get reposted and still zero sign of them.

                    • @netsurfer: Not sure why you're only getting 12 hours. I get given 7 days to open a dispute after the delivery window has closed and sellers are always happy to extend the delivery window when asked.

                      • @RickyJ: It gets worse. After 3 months and 1 day, I asked AliExpress CSR to raise a case for me, instead of waiting further. Now, despite already waited more than 3 months, the initial response from AliExpress dispute team is the claim is currently INVALID as the package is still in transit. Despite the confirmation window has already finished, AliExpress wants me to wait for at least another week. Then, AliExpress will re-evaluate it.

                  • +1

@jasswolf: Contacting CSR instead of waiting till that final 12 hours has made things worse. AliExpress's dispute team's initial judgement is that the case was raised too early.

It's already 3 months + 1 day and I waited till after 5PM to contact CSR. The dispute team indicates I must wait another 6 days. The shocker is the team deemed the item not received case currently invalid. So 3 months + 1 day is NOT LONG ENOUGH, it has to be >3 months + 2 days (we are talking about 7 more hours after 5PM). However, to penalise me further, they now extend the wait time to 3 months + 9 days. Then, the team will "re-decide".

These sellers use cheap logistics with multi carriers to save cost. Because the initial carrier provides tracking information so even if the remaining carriers don't, it at least shows the package is "in transit". The items in question aren't cheap and there is enough profit for the seller to use decent/proper postage, but no, the seller elected to use cheap postage.

AliE's system change to cater for Covid-19 is far too pro seller. You cannot raise a case right after the confirmation window finishes (so if AliE believed that window is long enough, why still block buyers raising an item not described case?). In my case, the official window to raise item not received case is 12 hours before the transaction gets completely closed and the buyer protection window officially ends.

I get it wasn't like this pre-Covid-19. I also get both eBay and PayPal are now giving sellers more time. Just be aware that the dispute cases can now drag on a lot longer and AliE's dumb system.

                  • @jasswolf: Hope this will help people - the rules on item not received since Covid-19 on AliExpress:

                    • Seller gets 3 months time AFTER the seller sent the item out no matter what. If seller took a few days to send the item and eats into the buyer protection window, that's something buyer needs to bear.
                    • Confirmation window is still calculated based on the order date.
                    • Order is officially closed 3 months after the order date.
                    • On that final day before the order is closed, a few hours before closing, the system officially allows you to start raising item not received case.
                    • CSR recommends I get an official letter from LPO stating they agree with me that the items have not reached them yet, even after I informed them the tracking ID is not trackable on AusPost Web site.

If you were to raise a case on or before the final day when the order is about to be closed, item not received case immediately enters invalid status because the 3 months "postage" time hasn't run out on the seller yet.

So, you get only 11 days to raise an item not received dispute once the system officially allows you to do so. You are essentially using the extra grace period to handle item not described (as the order is now finished). Subtract that by x number of days the seller took to send the item. And, if you raised the case as soon as you are allowed to, the case will enter invalid status (since you did not wait out that extra x number of days). To extend the buyer protection window further requires an agreement from the seller.

    • +1

I bought a phone case and screen protector off there about a month ago and it arrived yesterday (via the free Aliexpress Standard Shipping option).

Might vary by store I suppose but it seemed to be pretty decent shipping time for me.

    • You can just confirm the delivery yourself without receiving it if the deadline is cutting it close.
The cashback wouldn't look at the tracking number and such.

      • +4

and what happens if you don't receive it?

        • +4

          You received a 12% refund :)

          • @SnowDragon: wouldn't that be shit?

Once you confirm in aliexpress that you received the item, but not actually receive the item
how are you going to get refunded for the full amount you paid then?

            • @pinkybrain: That's the risk you take I guess.

But I've yet not to receive an item from Aliexpress. Banggood though…

              • @SnowDragon: For me, Aliexpress sellers can be just as bad. One of the sellers I bought from Aliexpress used the same type of shipping method as Banggood. I doubt the items will arrive. The most annoying thing is that Aliexpress insists I must give the seller 3 months before allowing me to raise an item not received and I was given less than 24 hours to do so. Aliexpress will treat the order as completed if I don't raise it in time.

                • @netsurfer: what do you mean "I was given less than 24 hours to do so"?
to do what and why only 24 hours?

I thought have to wait till 3 months (is that 90 days) to raise the issue?

are you saying after 90 days e.g.on day 91, you only have 1 day or 24 hrs to raise the item not received, before it become day 92?
that is pretty short amount of time to raise an issue..

                  how about on ebay?
                  how does it work?

Also how do you pay for your aliexpress orders?
is it safe to use credit card without any alipay anymore?

                  • @pinkybrain: Read my comments above. It is very frustrating right now. AliE extended the seller protection window so seller gets 3 months + 1 day after the seller sent the item. Unfortunately, the confirmation window is still based on order time so is the buyer protection window. The last part is the problem. When the seller sent the item(s) late (which happened to me), it reduces the already shorten effective/usable buyer protection window. I was left with 12 hours of usable buyer protection window because the seller really took his time before sending the items.

After reading those OZB comments basically saying contact CSR, I did, instead of wait another 7 hours for that stupid 12 hours only window to start. The CSR did raise a case for me, but it got worse.

Dispute team decided that I did not wait till 3 months + 2 days (honestly, we are talking about 7 hours to reach midnight, already past 5PM (7PM our time, 5PM China time I think)) to raise a case and deemed the item not describe case as invalid. They want me to wait another 6 days (and given the timezone difference, it will actually be 7 days) then they will re-decide. The seller basically wants me to wait and the dispute team sided with the seller so far.

This whole system is dumb because bad/lazy sellers don't get penalised. The buyers ended up suffering with the protection window reduces to something ridiculously small.

I think credit card is fine (bank is on your side and there is no way the bank would side with the seller in this case). I don't trust AliPay (it's just another layer to deal with). I have an item not received dispute case in PayPal with another seller. That is dragging on (due to PayPal giving sellers more time to respond to the case) - also > 3 months and still no sign of the item, but at least PayPal's system isn't as stupid as AliE's.

                  • @pinkybrain: After more investigation, it turns out AliExpress is not only the judge, but can also be a player.

AliExpress offers logistics service to the seller. If the seller elected to use (or the buyer picked on the option - I think it might be AliExpress postage), it appears that it will be routed via Singapore. Then, it could easily take quite some time. I thought leg 1 was awfully slow (China to Singapore). Leg 2 (Singapore to Australia) is not much better either. The best way to explain it is AliExpress' postage service is cheap, but it doesn't offer what Amazon's postage offers (Amazon gets great price and decent delivery service, and quality delivery service for Prime).

So, extending the seller shipping time to 3 months and all these weird system setup (which gives seller and AliExpress logistics more time) starts to make sense to me.

                    • @netsurfer: so did you receive the item at all or take it as a loss?

if aliexpress rules against you, do you do chargeback or just accept it?
can chargeback be done on a debit card?

do you pay with debit card or actual credit card?

note: alipay seems to be gone as payment option.

is the aliexpress customer service as good as ebay or worst?

                      • @pinkybrain: It's going to be interesting to see how the judge (AliExpress dispute team) will rule on this considered the logistics is done by AliExpress.
The seller responded stating the item is sent through AliExpress. Basically, he was indicating talk to AliExpress about it.

Upon checking the case status, it actually states as this item is posted using AliExpress postage system, the case will be handled by AliExpress, rather than the seller. Now, everything makes sense. The first CSR I talked to just sugarcoated it. The second one, after really going through the order in detail, was somewhat pro seller (now come to think about it, pro logistics provider).

Customer Service, I would say eBay is better. However, that's likely because eBay is not doing the logistics part. They are fine not to get their cut. AliExpress, I begin to wonder what actually happens if item is not delivered in time. Seller did send the item to AliExpress (based on the events) so AliExpress cannot refute that didn't happen. Put it this way, whichever logistics providers AliExpress are using, they are quite bad at a time like this.

                        • @netsurfer: if aliexpress rules against you, do you do chargeback or just accept it?

can chargeback be done on a debit card?

do you pay with debit card or actual credit card?

What was the item you bought?
                          Got a link for it?

                          • @pinkybrain: If AliE rules against me, I will ask my bank for help (chargeback). I used a credit card.

I bought two WiFi cards from the same seller:
                            https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000437127373.html?spm=a2g0s…
                            https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32808542531.html?spm=a2g0s.9…

I am not sure about debit card chargeback. Best to check with your bank. I still think AliE wouldn't rule against me if the item failed to arrive by the deadline set by AliE. Suppose to be 1 day left, but I found every time I added more information to the case, it seems to move the ruling date further away. So AliE won't rules until 3 days from now.

                            • @netsurfer: If you chargeback, won't you get penalise or banned by aliexpress?

There is conflict of interest for aliexpress to be the judge/jury while being a party involved in the case…
                              This is not good.

Ebay owns paypal but they seem to have strong separation of business when deciding the case..
so you can file with ebay and they decide
then if the 60 days is past, you can file with paypal and they decide..
but ebay cannot be involved in paypal decision or vice versa..

                              please update on your case..

Is it just me, or do you noticed that often times aliexpress has items (same as ebay) that seems to be more expensive than ebay?
Only case where aliexpress is cheaper is for items not sold on ebay or large quantity purchases..

                              • @pinkybrain: I don't think AliE will rule against me. It's a big company. The only thing is that they know how slow their logistics network is right now so they want to wait till the very last day. Honestly, the amount we are talking about here is not that much. Furthermore, a few months ago, my CC was compromised. Put it this way, the amount involved was far greater.

Yeah, I know feeBay is cheaper now for those two items. Thing is, 3 months ago, eBay sellers were charging a lot for AX201. Yeah, AliE has items which I cannot find on eBay (i.e. cheap and reasonably decent cases for Raspberry Pi 4, screen protectors for LG phones). Problem is, the quality of those items can vary a lot. I did get my screen protectors for my LG phone rather quickly (not through AliExpress postage), but the quality was so bad. Didn't bother with items not as described, I tried the protectors so doesn't feel good to ask for refund. My phone is still without a protector.

PayPal, right now, I have an item not received case going for more than a week now. PayPal still won't rule for a while. Seller has agreed to provide a refund in the next 2 business days and if the item arrived later, I will arrange to pay them again. I am not a fan of PayPal, especially for sellers. Unless you have your bank's backing, in a case of PayPal vs you, PayPal will rule in its favour. PayPal is a big part of why things are expensive on eBay (their fees are too high).

                              • @pinkybrain: Quick update: tried to contact AliE CSR to see if they can talk to AliE Shipping team to check the status of the order. CSR didn't really want to answer that question directly and asked me to talk to the seller (despite I already told her that seller indicated items were delivered through AliE Shipping and the dispute case states that since is done through AliE Shipping (basically like fulfilled by AliE), it will be handled by AliE. Eventually, CSR admitted she doesn't have access to talk to AliE Shipping. AliE CSRs are nice people, but they have very limited access.

A somewhat good news: Just now, AliE offered me a $18 voucher (no item restriction but expires in 2 months). Case still won't be ruled for a few more days. Not happy that every time I post an update message to the case, it extends the negotiation windows.

                              • @pinkybrain: The item arrived 4 hours before the final cut off. I reckon AliExpress Postage knows who the last mile carrier is and made sure that last mile carrier delivered it. AliExpress extended the ruling windows by 2 days to their advantage. The package is from AliExpress as the sender information shows AliExpress.

With the confirmation window long past, cash reward has been rejected. The voucher isn't that good because of its restriction. AliExpress Dispute team now planning to close the case.

It's really disappointing because the items I purchased were the most expensive for the past 4 months from AliE and yet they were the only ones delivered using AliExpress standard postage. It doesn't feel good that items delivered by AliE gone past the confirmation window (so cashreward rejected) and while in dispute, AliE dispute team extended the ruling window multiple times to AliExpress' advantage. Anyway, they arrived at the very last day of the extended postage window.

Only case where aliexpress is cheaper is for items not sold on ebay or large quantity purchases..

Yes, and part of the problem is the search isn't good. There is no search by price + postage. Also, the fact that most sellers have multiple item varieties on the listings mean you really need to manually go through and check. Cheaper items tend to be ones which are not on the eBay (yet) or alternative items which are inferior grade.

Problem is the quality of cheap eBay items is getting just as bad. I have multiple occasions where sellers sent me the wrong item (and always the cheaper / inferior ones). That includes a local eBay Plus seller. The eBay Plus item costed more (because I wanted a complete set). The seller just sent me whatever they still have in stock missed out on 30% of the set. It's a pain because while I agreed to partial refunds to make life easier for everyone, I cannot buy the missing bits with the partial refund (as no one sells just those missing bits).

                              • @pinkybrain: My suggestion now is really think twice before choosing AliExpress Standard Shipping. If it arrived nice and early, great.
But when the item arrived very late and not as described, it becomes quite frustrating. It certainly feels very different when AliExpress is the accused and the judge/jury.

    • Given the hike in the bottom tier postage, I'm finding its not all that much more to get it posted yanwen or even sometimes ems. Last order I placed it was 50c extra

      • No, Yanwen is unreliable and far too unpredictable. I have one item which arrived quite quickly. However, all 3 items I currently have on dispute were posted using Yanwen (already 3 months). All three appeared to have a tracking ID change (it seems to be handed to another carrier or sub-carrier). After that, all three became essentially untrackable (using the new tracking IDs from the final known tracking events).

China Post is most likely too expensive and so far none of these alternative Chinese logistics carriers is reliable enough since Covid-19 hits.

$15 cap kind of breaks the deal given there's sales on in 3 days.

If someone were to match with a $40 or $50 cap though… ;)

    • Can you link to the sales in 3 days please?

  • How unlucky am I
I just bought something for $2.5 on AliExpress the other day

  • Time for Christmas presents shopping

  • Just ordered yesterday 😑 with the app USD3 coupon

    • If it was under $40 you were better off with that anyhow. You usually can't stack coupons with Cashback.

      • I was able to stack the USD3 coupon with Shopback

      • Codes almost always stack with AliExpress. You have nothing to lose by trying :)

      • That coupon redeemed as credit so should work.

Anyway, already ordered yesterday and actually I totally forgot cashrewards with Aliexpress :(

  • I'm still waiting for an order that was placed about 2 months ago with $5 bonus + standard cashback :(

edited: just look it up, it was 10% cashback

    • That's how I got my shopping problem 😂

  • Item should be at/below $125 AUD for maximum cashback

  • Very shitty delivery and most likely with no warranty. In terms of delivery time, same as Catch if not better, with which I have two parcels on the way for a whole week, traveling within the same region. Impressive, despite COVID.

  • +1

I usually recieve aliexpress items within 30 to 35 days. But my last 2 parcels are well over 70 days and no sign of them. The tracking is only till it departs china and clearly says departed on 18 July. Dont know what seems to be happening at the borders.

    • Most, if not all sellers use cheap logistics services to post items, instead of official China Post. Problem is, those services delegate the deliveries to other companies. I have packages gone from China to Singapore, either took ages to reach Singapore or the service they use at SG really took time (nearly 30 days) to repost to Australia. It's over 3 months now and still no sign of the package. This handing packages to other companies to repost means you don't get any meaningful end to end tracking. That's why you often see multiple label stickers on the items sent from China (and at times, the final label looks like it is from another country - i.e. Singapore).

The first leg gives the seller an tracking ID, which fulfils the provide tracking Id requirement for the marketplace. However, half way through the delivery process, that tracking ID is pretty much useless, as the package got handed over to another delivery company (and often one doesn't need to provide any tracking details - cheaper).

      • yes, I agree with how it works. But my concern is if the customs is even allowing cheap parcels inside or just chucking them off due to the corona issue. I had nothing expensive, some 17$ dyson vaccum parts and 4$ samsung tablet case.

        • I've gone through and done some checks. Below is what I found so far:

Sellers who used China Post (China equivalent of AusPost) or any reseller who eventually go through China Post, even if the service is only trackable in China, and not trackable in Australia, generally do arrive at a reasonable time frame (2 - 4 weeks) and these are not fully trackable ones. Touch wood (as I don't want to jinx it).

Other cheaper carriers, so far, are quite unreliable. 3 in dispute (meaning > 3 months). All 3 have one thing in common, they've all gone from China to Singapore (took nearly 2 month) and then take a few weeks to depart from SG to Australia. Then, no sign of them so far.

I don't think customs would cherry pick items from one carrier.

    • With air travel gone way down, available space for cheap cartage is gone too. My guess is these guys are filling shipping containers. This means waiting for one to fill up with items going to the same port before they ship it and then 3 or 4 weeks to get down to OZ. Add in customs, packing and unpacking and probably a bit more COVID19 issues and these deliveries are going to stretch right out.

      • It clearly says "Shipment accepted by airline" on the tracking page. So dont know what to make of it. Probably that might be a standard message if they are using ships to ship?

        • I have 3 items sent by the same type of service. 1 has arrived, 2 are in "shipment accepted by airline".
The one that has arrived had airline shipment departed 1 day after the shipment accepted by airline. The other two have no further event after shipment accepted by airline.

    • any one of these three is more representative of me

      • lol

Hmm, best to be think about this.

Some sellers have been price jacking to make the 24th sale prices look more appealing (I guess, not sure why they do it, but a few things that are marked "Sale" have been jacked, and by a decent %)..I've always got crap in my cart so I follow movement. Other sellers are like 30c cheaper on a $100 item.

There will be several coupons for $6 off $50, $10 off $100 (all USD) AliExpress Coupons valid during the sale…Win your own if you could be bothered in the app. I've got mine. (these generally don't work with CR)

I suspect that there will be other public coupons on the day (similar to the discount above 10,50,100) which will work with CR, it happed last time (coupon + CR), and the time before that.

Coupons are only good when you right on the coupon value (which gets you maximum value), overshoot it and you dilute the discount % wise.

If you have some odd amount of spend, and your item is priced right just get it now, 12% is the best I've seen in some time.

  • Great deal, paid $1.10 and already tracked.

  • Careful guys. A promo coming on the 24th. An item I want is 3x less the current price.

  • Agree as many mentioned, check how much is 12% give you, and compare it with sale price coming in 3 days time.

Buy direct you don't have that 90 days restrictions.. duh I am regretting already

  • I am not able to login at moment, what's going on here??? It just gives me this error message "504 Gateway Time-out". Anyone has the same issue?

  • Did the math, works out a tiny bit cheaper with 5% cashback if I wait for the upcoming sale.

Small unnecessary purchases will have to wait.

i am big fans of bargain and alie in the past but just recently thinking maybe the wait time is getting out of hand.
it is just not worth saving few $ for items value $20 comparing with buying local, and we can get and use them in 3-4 days.

you may feel happy when clicking buy button with such a low price, but next week/month when you are swearing because you really want to use that item but they are not here yet, you will thought i should have just paid more and get done with it.
