I am looking for my new laptop. I want to get the Dell XPS 15 but it is super expensive at $3k+ mark. I saw the vostro and it seems to satisfy most of my needs.
Whats everyone's thought on the Vostro?

XPS is the expensive premium line of Dell laptops, while Vostro is the budget "business" line. Basically a rebadged Inspiron but better business warranty or something.
I have a Vostro myself and it's a nice laptop that gets things done, nothing bad, nothing special.
However, seems like Dell is having a lot of problems with their XPS line, just have a look at the Dell's subreddit.
I would say have a go with the Vostro, unless you really want to splurge out for a little more luxury feeling on the XPS.
Personally I'd buy their Latitude 5000/7000 series systems:

I have a latitude 7400 2-in-1 and it's pretty nice. Build quality is better than XPS IMHO.
The XPS 15 equivelant would be the Precision 5000 series - above the Vostro range
The Latitude 7000 range is quite nice though - very good build quality and come with a longer warranty - reasonably priced from the Dell DFO outlet (online)
Vostro is like an inspiron with windows pro instead of home. I have an older 15" inspiron and it's surprisingly well built, thin-ish, and well specced.
Obviously not in the same premium league as XPS as far as thinness, but not too bad.
