Help ! Laminated Floor.yes Yes I Know but This One Is The Last One I Promise

Anyone know how to fix this ? Without replacing?

I rent a unit and its got laminated floor boards. And when i tried to get rid of a scuff mark this happened. Used the coarse green pad and i know i was stupid but does any one know how to fix it ?

Or can suggest anyone who can do it for cheap ?

  • Anything else you need help with?

    • Haha! I knew someone would say this but that is about it.

I am vacating so over the course of 5 years i did not want to leave it as is without even trying to fix it . And where else would i ask than here

  • Another post, really?

Yes godric another one. You know when a man tries to fix things and he is afraid to fix it because he fears he’d ruin it more?

Well i am vacating and the owners have been so great. I know it may come under wear and tear but if i could spend some money and give it back as close to as i was handed it 5 years back then that’d be fair to the owners i thought. So trying to do my bit.

Just scour the rest of the floor so it all matches.

    • Haha !! No thanks

  • The spot looks damp?
Maybe drying it to see what it comes out like.
Looks like you have killed the finish of the laminate.
Some laminate can be sanded and refinished…

    • Hmm .. could it be a DIY thing or should i call a pro to do that ?

  • Is the top layer timber? Or just vinyl? If it is timber, then maybe one of the Howards Products items may help. Look at https://www.howardproducts.com.au/. Maybe their Restor-A-Finish product may help.

    • Thank you so much. Looks like this could help.

  • Whole floor will have to be replaced.

    • Yeah should do that. My own diy project ..haha

      • Nah worst case scenario just replace the sections that are damaged, much like tiles

  • White vinagre and sodium bicarbonate is usually the solution for everything that has no obvious solution. If you have to replace it anyway, I'd try the sodium bicarbonate with a small amount of water first. Then add white vinagre as the last resource.

That's probably only an option if what we see there is not wet/mouldy…

that mark looks suspiciously .. phallic..

  • are the owners even going to notice?

  • Acetone (nail polish remover) on a microfibre cloth, work in from the outside of the stain, gently.

  • Looks like you're going to jail…

    • Yeap 5 years in prison atleast i reckon.

  • You cut out the damaged board and replace with a matching one. Glue the new board onto the surrounding boards.
