I have been waiting for the pixel 4a to release for a while. I am just wondering if I should go ahead a pre-order it at $599 or possible wait a few months for the price to drop? I am a bit reluctant to pre-order as I dont want to be paying more than I should after the initial distribution. So I am wondering, if the price does drop, how much do you think it'll reduce by?
Yes. Phones always drop in price over time. This one will be cheaper some time after that date but only the manufacturer knows when exactly.
What benefit do you get from Pre-ordering? If none, then just wait until it's released. All you're doing is giving Google (or JB or whoever) your money early.

sounds like you need a 28 degree master card with price protection ;) then you have upto a year and can claim all price drops.
