Switch Lite is cheaper at Amazon ($294)
Also any micro SD is compatible with Switch, likely better off purchasing online

    • This is online-only (have updated original post). There are discounted SD cards available, can't comment whether they are better value than elsewhere though.

    • For the switch lite better off getting catch discounted gift cards.

Ends up around $270 delivered (if you use trial for catch membership).

    • any micro SD

Sure, but you probably want to use a decently fast one. Nothing flash - a simple SanDisk A1 card is fine.

Everyone will be picking up their first flight stick to play MS Flight Simulator

  • +2

Seems a good timing along with Microsoft Flight Simulator.

  • Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS 1 XB1/PS4 - $99 (was $169) showing as $129 for me?

      • That link shows as $129 for me. :(

    • Me too!

    • Showing $129 for me too even after putting in my postcode.

      • Same here. $129 save $40

    • Shows as $99 for me once I click through to the product.

      • Which area are you in? Wonder if post code has to do with price difference.

    • No idea why it's showing at $129, I ordered at $99 and it still shows that price. Maybe add to cart?

    • Maybe you need to have an account, not be a guest?? Regional versus city-based?

      • +1

I opened the link in Chrome and got $99. Same link in Edge was $129. Only difference was Chrome for some reason defaulted my location to Dapto NSW - Edge didn't have a location set.
Then I set the location in Edge to Dapto and it remained $129.

Ended up ordering as a guest in Chrome for $99. Bizarre. No change when I went through to enter my address.

Also had free shipping despite the product page stating $7.90 shipping cost.

        • Thank you for this good sir. I got charged shipping to Perth but using this method got it for $106.90.

        • Applied the same method too and it worked. Thanks!

  • On this page the $99 price for the flight sticks is showing but once you click through it's $129:

    https://www.bigw.com.au/click-bonanza#electronics-accessorie…

  • Prices are off for me also. Even the TB headset is different pricing, showing $39 (save $50). Cheaper but seems there is some variation for some reason.

    • +2

Sorry, my mistake - should be $39. Have updated original post.

  • +2

Can't get $99 to show, but looks like Amazon have matched, though they only have the PS4/PC Ace Combat edition.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07JP5M838

    • thanks! purchased with prime free delivery is nice

    • And delivered too for Prime :D

    • Cheers! Appreciate it, seems like i got the last one.

    • Sold out on Amazon :'(

      • keep checking. i just got one for 99

    • Must be out of stock now. Only available from Gamesmen for $183.95

Do the ones in the OP work on PC?

      • Seems like it is same thing. Either pc+ps4 or pc+Xbox. Not certain though, I’d do a quick Google first

  • Shows as $129 using the link above for me, but then drops to $99 using Sydney postcode

  • This is also available on the current sale
JBL Link Portable WiFi Speaker with Google Assist - Black @ $95
    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/jbl-link-portable-wifi-speak…

  • No special on normal Switch?

    • No, normal $469 price for them.

  • I tried postcode 2034 Coogee in an incognito tab and it showed $99. Might be good for a price match at EB or JB?

  • Can anyone vouch for the headset?

Just looking for something to use with modern warfare.

    • +1

It should do the job nicely for the price. Our kids have used this one and some of the cheaper TB headsets and they're great value for money.

  • The T.Flight HOTAS definitely does catch my attention for PC use (traded in PS4 Pro recently) but I actually don't have any flight sim games that I play… whilst I'd be interested to try it out for say Flight Sim and I could get Ace Combat 7, are there any other games or types of games which benefit from this controller? Or any other good uses (eg could it be an ergonomic mouse alternative?)

(and lol at comment above that in the old days we all had joysticks which was the default PC game controller… I remember playing Commander Keen with a joystick in my childhood days)

    • +1

It works with Elite: Dangerous (reason I want one), so if you like space sims it'll do fine for that. If you're on PC though, there are much better options than the T-Flight but they cost alot more.

For occasional use and/or to give a HOTAS a try, the T-Flight would be just fine.

(and I remember the hand cramps from using a joystick to play Daley Thompson's Decathalon on the C64…!)

      • +1

Not sure if it was me or a mate, but I remember one of us pulling a neck muscle playing that game (Daley Thompson's Decathalon). I reckon my missus probably would thank me now for all that intense training back in my youth.

    • +1

Star Wars Squadrons may make use of it

      • +1

I bought that HOTAS specifically for Ace Combat 7 and was great for it but has been gathering dust since finishing that. The plan is to get more use with Flight Simulator and Squadrons.

        • I suspect this is the same for me and I'm not even that into flight sims. Better not buy another peripheral as my arcade stick has been gathering dust as well once I got bored of Tekken and DOA.

  • Don't buy a switch lite, seriously, unless you want to RMA the entire unit when joycon drift occurs.

It's not worth the hassle, downtime, risk vs a little extra to buy the full switch (which enables you to buy new joycons even if your RMA is rejected).

    • Mine's still going strong since launch and I use it for an hour or so per day.

      • Dunno when they launched but I had two sets of joycons start to go at about 9 months. I don't abuse my controllers or play 'party' games etc.

        • Mines been going strong after 1.5 years.

In saying that though i do clean it every 3-4 months as i use it 3-4 times a week at 1-2 hours minimum at a time.

  • Good timing with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 releasing today.

  • Was hoping for games but there's none in the page.

  • Anyone know if any PS4 games will be added to this sale?

  • +2

I was able to get through to checkout for $99 with free delivery (VIC) by opening a Chrome incognito tab, changing location to 2034. Then signing in, putting my VIC address in. Price stayed at $99 and the shipping changed to free.

Not sure if I want to buy it though :) I have gamepass PC, but flight sims aren't really my thing.

    • Thanks mate, confirmed this method works.

P.S. Don't forget to pay with Woolies e-gift card for further 5% off. :)

      • Yeah I ended up buying it. Had a $30 Woolies gift card sitting here, so used that to bring it down to $69 shipped. Didn't use the e-gift cards for the extra 5% though :)

  • Does anyone know if the PS4 version will also work on Xbox One?

I've got both consoles, was planning on using this on PC for MS Flight Simulator, but realised it's also on Xbox One as well. I'd want to use this on PS4 for VR Ace Combat.

    • It won't work.

      • Yeah, I did some googling and it didn't look like it. Can't think of anything I'd want to use it for on Xbox anyway.

  • +1

I've had the PS4 version of the Thrustmaster HOTAS for quite a few years now and while it is indeed plasticky and a little creaky, it a nice cheap first step into flight sims. I originally used it for elite and will now try it for MSFS 2020. Also being able to keep it in one unit for storage vs separated for actual playing is nice.

Thrustmaster HOTAS both PS4 and Xbox Sold Out

  • What's Big W doing selling $1499 steering wheels.

  • Big W just cancelled my HOTAS order, placed it at 11:05AM AWST on Tuesday :(

    • Damn, I wonder why. I got an email saying mine had shipped yesterday

      • If you don't mind my asking (not that it will change anything now) what time did you order and whereabouts are you? I'm in Perth, interested to see if they fulfilled orders by time of order.

It's a shame because I ordered it before playing Flight Sim 2020 and the fact it was on order was stopping me dropping money on a more expensive setup…now it's cancelled I am looking at wasting even more money!!!

        • I ordered at 13:22 AEST, so you actually ordered 17 minutes before me.

I'm in Melbourne. I had to do some messing around with incognito mode and changing the location to get the $99 price to show. I also ended up getting free shipping. Looks like I got lucky.

I got emails from Big W and Australia Post yesterday saying it was on its way.

          • @chromium: Well that's disappointing that they didn't fulfill by order time, but still good to hear you're getting yours! I did the same re: incognito mode, didn't get the free shipping though so my order was $106.90

          • @chromium: Guess you got lucky, I didn’t get any email from Big W, just a Woolies e-gift card for $99. Sucks! :(

    • +1

Same here. I dont want a refund, i want the HOTAS :(

  • +1

Got a generic BS response from BigW after I emailed through asking why people who ordered after me would receive theirs and mine would be cancelled. Didn't really expect much more, but was interested to ask the question anyway

"Unfortunately, there is a slight time delay between our warehouse system that indicates stock levels, and the ability to make the purchase on our website.

This can mean that the item is still 'available' on our website for a slight time when our warehouse is out of stock, and an order has to be rejected."

  • I ordered HOTAS on 8/18/2020 and the order is still awaiting processing. Sent an email to enquire yesterday and was told to wait 48-72 hours for further response. It is getting annoying. Not sure if anyone is in the same situation.

  • Has anyone received theirs from Big W yet? Mine was shipped on the 19th and there's been no tracking update since the 20th. I'm in Melbourne, so I guess it's a Covid 19 delay.
