Wera 897/4 Imp R SiS 897/4 IMP R SB Impactor Holder with Retaining Ring and Magnet, 1/4 Zoll x 75 mm

This bit holder seems to be quite a bit cheaper on the UK store and has free delivery with Prime.

There is this one here as well, I'm not manly enough to know what the difference between the two is.
Wera 889/4/1 K Rapidaptor Universal Bit Holder, 1/4 Zoll x 50 mm x 1/4 Zoll - $15.36 + $7.28 Delivery

I would like to maybe buy one of the two but not sure which is better.

  • I get this is a good brand but the typical OzB probably has multiple magnetic bit holders already from all the various tool bit sets over the months and years lol. Ryobi throw them. Bosch throw them in. Milwaukee threw one in. Irwin threw some in.etc.

    • well I still havent got one lol….. which one should I get?

    • And if the magnets don't hold the bit properly, use your n-piece cable tie set to secure the bit to the holder.

    • looks like this magnetically holds the screw as well as the bit

  • Do they really increase life of bits in impact drivers, and is that the aim? Don't think I've seen these before

    Ahh, it's "tools".

Another piece of evidence that I am not a man's man, man.

I think this helps reduce the impact an impact driver forces onto the shaft of the impact-driven bits.

Sort of like a shock absorber if you will. The shearing force the bits experience during the initial and the final jerk is partially absorbed by this.

Will using this make your ryobi bits perform as good as a milwaukee? I highly doubt it.

Just bought the Bosch bit holder a few days ago. Not sure if this one worth the extra, the rating looks not very good, only 3.7 out of 5.

I just use the bit holders for two main reasons:
    1. most of my bits are the short bits but my impact driver needs those 50mm bits.
    2. keeps the tool back a bit so bit more working light, visibility and reach.

Didn't know anything about making the bits last longer :P. Bonus if so lol.

I just do the magnet rub trick to magnetise bits, not really dependent on the bit holder.

As much as i like Weras other tools. I cant recommend this Impaktor bit holder (The diamond coated bits are good though). The magnetic sleeve is a PITA when it slides back as it slides freely as seen in this video. Now imagine that when working overhead or on a slightly upward facing angle. You need to constantly reset the magnetic holder with two hands.

I have this Wiha Magic flip instead. **Just note its not officially impact driver rated.

Also about the Wera Rapidtor. Its just a universal holder without the magnetic holder function. Also not impact driver rated
