Good walking/sports shoes for those with orthotics for 22yr male

hi ,
My son picked up his orthotics just before us in VIC went into lockdown and he feels like he is coming out
the back of his shoes when he goes for his 1hr walk/exercise a day . Currently has the usual converse ,adidas ultra boosts ,
adidas continental etc but looking for ideas that might work seeing as he cant actually try them on in store .

Plan of attack is to buy a couple of pairs , and find a deal :) and then return via paypal but dont want to get toooo many ..

thanks guys

A lot of stores have free returns - eg. Asos. Just buy sufficient amount to qualify for free postage and they have free returns

  • My ASICS (Cumulus/Nimbus) cope well with my orthotics and they are pretty high to deal with my wonky legs.

  • I use Brooks Addiction Walker with my orthotics on top of the innersoles. Works well for me.

Mine are a 2E width but I assume they come in regular widths if that suits.

Can't go wrong with this mob. Cheap shoes and use PayPal.

  • are they custom orthotics? when i get mine they would fit it based on your foot and the shoe you bring in….

    • yes custom made , that was for his work shoes though..

      • i would go with new balance or asics as they come in many sizes and widths. you may have to get a few sizes to find your exact one. most adidas have primeknit tech and non removable soles, leaving you with little room for the feet.

  • New Balance 860 or 1060
    Brooks Beast

These all work OK with my substantial orthotics

Lucky to get 3 months usage for a pair so best to get them on sale

  • I'm in Melbourne and bought my shoes from Active Feet which was recommended by my Podiatrist.

They were expensive! But the service was fantastic and the guy spent about an hour with me making sure that I got the exact right shoes that I liked and were comfortable.

I was told I needed a "Neutral Shoe", and has to be a shoe with a removable inner sole so the orthotics can go in. I now know what I need in future when there are sales at Athletes Foot and places like that. The shoes I got were Mizzuni and Brooks. I like the Mizzuni best. Nine months in and I don't regret spending the money as they along with the (very very expensive orthotics!) have made a hell of a difference for me. And these shoes will last for a long time - but then I have never been hard on shoes.

  • i have orthotics and podiatrist got me to get brooks dyad. They are neutral but perfect for orthotics. I usually get a 2e for wide feet and was advised 4e for the othotics. So if your a normal width you will need 2e to fit the orthotics or 4e like myself
