Morning HD,
We have 2 Monthly Featured products and 3 individual coffees available (blend, rotating Single Origin and Swiss Water Process decaf). We're a small hard working team based in VIC, passionate about coffee. We focus on roast quality optimisation and efficiency. Simply put we save time and customer's save money, we achieve this by dispatching orders once a week and maintaining lean operations.
Any more questions, ask away :)
Sure. What species of bean are they? Arabica? variety/ies esp for the single origin? Are they grown over 1200m? 900m?
Seems the kind of info passionate coffee people would want you to know.Hey Mycosys,
We only roast and sell Arabica. Catuai & Caturra for Blend grown 1800m. Bourbon for SO grown 1600.
Any more questions, let us know.
I mean this seams pretty cheap and all - but where's the reviews and info about the business? How did you seemingly pop out of nowhere?
Not to be pessimistic but as above said, it is literally a Shopify site, with a one liner about who you are; Google search brings up nada.
How long have you been around? How long have you been roasting?
Hey Jonnoyeo,
As mentioned above, we run things lean, which enables us to offer high quality coffee at low prices. Reviews, in-depth website…all have a place, but also have an operations cost attached, as such if we went down that path then the cost per kg would be the same as other roasters already down that path $45-$70per kg. Not out of nowhere, just first time to pop up on ozbargain.
If someone is keen for the usual marketing and highly informative site, then we're not an ideal fit for them. If someone just wants high quality fresh coffee at great prices, then we're a fit.
Our team has been roasting since 2014.
Any more questions, fire away
I mean there is not really an operational cost on adding an "about us" on the Shopify site is there? Or an Instagram page?. As said above, product does seem like a good price, but we ozbargainers can be very sceptical especially when there is no information about the business we are giving our money too.
Hey Again HD,
Operation costs can sneak up very quickly…we have a small paragraph "about us" on our homepage, it's just not a dedicated page, appreciate what you're saying and we will contemplate creating an "about us" section in our site menu.
However, Instagram is a noticeable ongoing operation cost, it takes time and money to it do well with constant upkeep. Know it seems like small as a stand along operation expense, but then do we get a facebook, twitter, custom branded boxes, a branded van…All of the above operation additions have merit for a coffee business, however if we were to adopt those additions it would cause us to either increase our prices or lower our quality, resulting in us losing sight of what we're about. Perhaps we may adopt certain changes in the future, but for now we're not creating social media pages, instead spending our time on optimising our roasting practices to bring out the best qualities of incredible coffees. Different businesses have different businesses models, together various roasters business models make for an interesting Australian coffee industry, if we all did the exact same thing the industry would be a lot more linear.
Keep firing any more questions, all are welcome.
Isn't the beauty of Shopify that an individual sole trader (according to the ABN) can setup a quick minimum viable product online presence and begin selling so easily? We can assume their normal avenues of revenue have dried up under the Premier's State of Disaster (ABN business location is VIC) restrictions and this is a quick setup facilitated by the Shopify platform to get selling.
I'm sure they'll grow out the presence and marketing eventually but under the current circumstances it makes sense to me.
I think a bit more information on the coffee itself would be useful. I'm hoping the blend is suitable for espresso, and the SO is suited to filter. If so it would be perfect for me.
Hey Quirdan,
Appreciate your response and understanding. We are beginning to explore new avenues such as ozbargain because our usual channels are not available due to restrictions.
The site is functional albeit basic. Sign of the times means we may need to adapt our marketing over time to suit the rapidly changing world…In the meantime, we hope our attention to detail in terms of roasting quality will compensate for our bare-bones site.
Noted, will look at including altitude, varietal. We roast all our coffee omni, as such it suits espresso and filter. Our blend is great black or milk based, filter or espresso. Our SO is best enjoyed black, works well as filter or espresso. Our general guide for filter ratio is 6g coffee per 100g water. Specific espresso recipe's are printed on the bags, as this varies a bit more from blend to SO generally speaking.
In case you haven't had time to see my response to another comment on this forum, here's a bit more specific info about the coffees:
"We only roast and sell Arabica. Catuai & Caturra for Blend grown 1800m. Bourbon for SO grown 1600."If you have any more questions, please feel free to keep asking.

More about the coffees please. Medium or dark roast? Suitable/good/excellent for milk based coffees? My bag of 3 Mile Island is not long for this earth, and always keen to try new ones…
Hey Willyroo,
Medium roast, we roast omni to suit both espresso and filter brewing methods. Blend is excellent black or milk based. SO is best enjoyed black. We'd really appreciate if you decided to try us out!
Hi! re: dispatch, your website says 'Order Before 1pm Thursday for Dispatch Friday'
Does this mean orders will not be dispatched until this Friday?Edit: Also, what is the roast date for the beans?
Hey nxclay,
Yes, we dispatch once a week to keep operation costs low and pass on the savings to you.
Friday specifically, as couriers sort over the weekend without a huge increase in items or deliveries, as such it's the most efficient day for us to dispatch.
Another reason we dispatch on once day a week is to optimise quality and efficiency of our roasting. Any coffee ordered between now and Thursday at 1pm will be roasted between now and then, the specific day/s will be determined by order volume, whichever day/s it is it'll be nice and fresh when it reaches you.
Keep the questions coming, if you have more.
Thanks! Ordered.
Terrific, really appreciated!!!
Ordered, thanks OP.
Morning :)
Fantastic, truly appreciated!!!
Also ordered. Thanks! Don't mind trying new roasters.
Woohoo, thank you, sincerely appreciate you testing us out!!!
Thanks OP. Price looks reasonable, I like there are 2x500g of different beans. Look forward to trying them both
Music to our ears, really appreciate the feedback and we really look forward to hearing what you think of the coffee once you try it!!!
Decided to try you guys! Looking forward to it.
Amazing, really appreciate you giving us a shot! Look forward to hearing what you think of the goods :)
With just under an hour before our deal for this weeks dispatch finishes, we'd like to sincerely thank everyone from Oz Bargain who's interacted with us this week, be it an order, click or comment. It's been truly heartwarming to see all the orders from this community come in. We're a small team, so every order we treat as unique opportunity, which means a lot to us and will not be taken for granted. Every aspect of our first Oz Bargain experience has been a delight, even the questions about our bare-bones site, it helps us be better tomorrow than we are today. We're really excited to see how orders look at 1pm :)
Any information about you guys at all? It's just a standard Shopify site with 2 products on it.
