Just realised I am wearing a mask! And so is everyone!
:o
I mean :(II)

Cool. When did this happen? Hehe

Just as long as someone doesn't give "me" other features without my permission please. But I do believe this is cute. Whose idea??

Edit: Omgsh I mean my profile avatar, not people in real life.

  • Mask wearing avatars replaced the default avatars yesterday. Those who had their own custom avatars were unaffected.

If you wish to add a mask to your custom avatar or edit the mask avatar, you can do so by downloading the image on our API & Logos Page. You can also restore your avatar with a non-mask wearing avatar.

    • Ooo freedom my idol!! Thanks mod 😊👍😁

    • So it's not a mask virus that has hacked the ozbargain code at least. Whose idea? Joint or solo? I know no names except Scotty.

        • +1

Ooo I see. I believe I subconsciously saw that the other day and assumed that Dan had always worn a mask, bushranger dan at least…
Cool. It's far cuter on the ozbees imo.

        • Have a nice sleep. Although you are probs on night shift… Goodnight.

  • ..

    • Lol you know what I mean! My display pic on ozbargain!

Before everyone goes all out at OP…

… OP is referring to the profile avatar.

LOL yes I just realised how awful that would have sounded irl whoops….!!!!!

    • When did it happen? I only just noticed it.

    • Glad you saw the link.. I thought the other person was high

      • Lol hmmmm… Post before think….

  • As my other half said the other day
“Who is that masked man” and I said “well, everybody”.

I think masks are “overkill”in a lot of situations but if it gets the numbers down quicker then “bring it on”.

    • Hehe everybody.

      • Hehehe hahah hoohooo heheheheeee heeee cheeeeze

        • Hehe okay. … :D

          • @Embaloo: The follow up.
“Is it a bird, is it a plane, …?”.
“well, at the moment it is probably a bird or Superman”.

  • all good …but where is the mask made & is it tga approved?

    • +1

Good point. From the pic, it looks like there's three layers, at least.

  • +2

    No mask here.

      …found the anti-masker

      • +6

We don't have hundreds of cases a day here, so no need for it. As Australia isn't Melbourne, I don't think we all need it.

          • +1

@tonester: Sure changed quickly from the "masks won't help at all" propaganda. The question now is, what propaganda do we believe?

            • @brendanm: whose propaganda?

              • +4

@tonester: Initially it was the WHO and anyone who listened to them. Who knows who is doing what now. I personally don't trust a website with the domain "masksforall.co".

                • @brendanm: one should always fact-check :)

so you don't trust a website solely because of their domain?

                  • @tonester: As an initial "red flag", correct.

                    • @brendanm: why? what makes you trust one domain and not another? how is a website's trustworthiness related to their domain?

if it's an initial red flag, then what helps you go past that?

                      • +3

@tonester: Are you serious? A domain solely dedicated to the positive side of wearing masks isn't suggestive to you?

.io is also not what I would consider to be a particularly valid domain.

What helps me get past it is my own experience, looking at what they have on there etc. If a website is solely dedicated to selling one part of an idea, I will ignore it, as it is obviously not at all impartial.

you don't trust a website just because its domain might reflect its subject?

does "masks4all" indicate having masks accessible to everyone, or everyone wearing them?

.co is also not what I would consider to be a particularly valid domain.

why is that? do you have something against Colombia?

have you had a look then? if you ignore a website just because of its name, then how do you know that it's actually not impartial?

instead of using descriptive domain names such as "makepovertyhistory", should they be like "amazon" whereby it gives no hint as to its true content?

what are other domains that you trust or not? twitter?

                          • +3

@tonester: Lol, no I do not trust Twitter, who would?

A .co domain is a "second rate" domain.

Masksforall seems to simply be a pop up agenda pushing organisation that doesn't even have its own tax exempt status, it had to borrow it from another organisation, "community initiatives", which itself looks a bit dodgy, and charges "charities" etc to use it's tax exempt status.

"Makepovertyhistory" would be another agenda push, as the only way to make poverty history, is to limit the global population to an amount that is viable on the resources available in each region. This goes against the "globalisation" push, of having lots of people to work, and buy goods, to grow economies.

Regarding the domain reflecting the subject, yes. If a domain such as "masksforall" is created, it is only going to provide information which agrees with the message they want pushed. They aren't going to provide any studies that show the opposite, and will not list any negatives associated with it.

because the content confirms the name? ;)

what does that mean and why does it matter?

they can't, because masks used as intended don't harm anyone :)

                              • @tonester: always nice to receive a -/neg without explanation, especially for a multipoint comment - with which part/s do they disagree or dislike?

      your avatar looks so clean.

  • Ha !

  • Heck, that's what it is. I thought they were samurai mask avatars!

Time to get checked for longsightedness.

    • Hehehe

  • I originally thought everyone was Bane.

    • Ha. Googled and I agree.

<Bunnings Karen Voice>I'm outraged that as a non-Victorian in a state where we don't have to wear a mask, I am in fact being forced to wear a mask. Can you please show me where in the Human rights charter you have the right to enforce this? I can have you sued, personally, for discriminating against me as an OzBargainer. </Bunnings Karen Voice>

      …its just like the flu!

    • ;)

  • Wow I didn't notice it was default till now, I thought it was just users collectively setting their profile picture to that

    • Yeah, I didn't notice til I made a post (previous to this one). I suppose you don't see your avatar unless you do.

  • +3

Does this mean the Avatar mask has gone viral?

    • Oh dear haha

      • Sorry, I will show myself out.

  • +1

    Meh 😛

    • Sorry you missed out, Spackbace.

  • We've been muzzled!

    • Not you, inherentchoice!

You’d think Ozbargain is only in Victoria 🤦🏽‍♂️

I’ve never worn a mask and I won’t unless we get an outbreak here and I’m forced to wear one.
