Seems like a good deal.

It's still using SATA ssd but has comparable speeds to T5 Samsung.

I priced matched at officeworks and they were saying its lower than their cost price.

Its been on Binglee site for the past 3 days.. So I'm assuming its not a price error.

One of these https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crucial-BX500-1TB-SSD-2-5-SATA-I… or one of these https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Seagate-1TB-SSD-Barracuda-120-2-… plus one of these 2.5" external enclosure https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Volans-UE25-Aluminium-2-5-SATA-U… to make a 1TB portable SSD for $189.50. Wouldn't that be a better deal?.

    • BX500 is dram-less so slow down with large file writes. Not sure about the Seagate one but yeah, it's probably cheaper to buy an external case + sata drive
I think Samsung 860 Evo's were around ~$150 during CB and Orico enclosures less than $10

      • Yes the Seagate Barracuda 120 1TB SSD has a DRAM cache.

Yeah. Considered this option.. 1) that will be much larger, 2) SATA cases seem to have reliability issues.

And considering you need buy a separate USB C USB 3.1 cable.

      I don't think it's worth your issues.

  • Also at catch if anyone has a discount code,

Apparently this is a good match for Macs (happened to be reading an article on why choose this over a Samsung T5 for external storage due to random compatibility issues).

    • I've had no problems installing and running OSX Catalina off a Samsung T5 on USB-C on a 2017 iMac. Speed about 500 MB/s, much faster than on original fusion drive.
Now thinking of getting T7 which has speed of 900+ MB/s.

  • Good price and good alternative to the T5.

  • Shows $289
